I still have my original copy of this game, but I cannot get it to run properly on my PC. It takes forever to load missions, and when they finally do, they are ultra-slow. hey i installed this game to my comp, and everything works fine until i try to play a mission. the whole screen is just black. the only thing that i can see are the health bars. the audio is fine i can hear all the enemies in the level, just can't see shit :/ HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

@wtfiyn yeah, AVP classic is a re-mastered version of avp gold so it works on windows xp, vista, win7...

if you like this game, just buy it on steam... I did, even though my old copy of avp gold worked on windows xp, now I can run avp classic on windows vista with no problem...

also mutliplayer works too, so it's definitely worth the cheap price they are selling it at.

Probably an old capture card, judging out of the blurry quality.

You could also just download FRAPS and use it to record movies while playing games. You download it, set a key to record, keep it open when you launch a game, and just hit the chosen key to start recording a clip, hit again to stop.

can you use the flashlight in AvP1? i would prefer a flashlight over nightvision to be honest :/

You can use flares, but there are no flashlights.

I personally like having flares, it makes it scarier to have a flickering thrown light than a portable, rechargeable one.

All you need to do is pirate a non-ripped version of the game and then install the avp gold fix, you can find it on google. i have a gtx 280 and i didn't need to do anything with my drivers.

1. AvP is such a chilling and entertaining horror FPS it doesn't deserve to be pirated.

2. Almost all AvP gold PC torrents are corrupted or don't work anyway.

3. If you're having a problem with the game having a black screen, or something, then it's your graphics card being too modern for the game to function.

it would run fine on my last computer (windows 98) but now i have XP and it installs fine, but when i load a mission or game it says "your 3d hardware does not have enough memory to run on this bit-depth or resolution please choose a lower setting"

i have run the program through windows 98 compatibility mode and tried all the resolutions, does anyone know how to help this?

i have a similar problem, the game installs fine and loads up,and this computer is obviously far superior to the one i used to play this game on 10 years ago, and i have avp orig and gold installed, and both of them do the same thing. i get into game fine, watch cinematics, etc. but when it comes to actual gameplay, all i can see is a black screen with a thin line across the center and it changes colors based one what i'm looking at. tried running in all compatability modes. any suggestions?

For me AVP1 is just most scary game in the world. Because no scripts were used in the game. Just respawn points for the Aliens following the player. Every game was different. AVP2 was fine, but scripted as hell.

FOR ALL WHO IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH RUNNING AVP1 ON XP. Get new "binkw32.dll" for AVP (no intro sound looping), and build098 patch (I know, it's hard to get), and then run in w95 compatibility mode, Works fine on WinXp SP3 Phenom2 X3 GF9800GTX+ And I must change my pants :D

towards the end I kill one single predator, it's cloaked and invisible until I kill him... it appears at min 7:40

However if i use night vision it has lines where you cant see anything across the screen. I dunno what the problem is Disc is horribly scratched cause its older then hell so that might be it. :P

Those moves have a good story..I was in Gamespy Arcade boasting about my Alien skillz when someone challenged me to an 1 vs 1 Alien vs Alien. It was in that "city with a subway and a tower with a clock" map, and he seriously kicked my ass. I just couldn't believe how FAST thay Alien was moving (he moved from one part of the map to the opposite in less than a second).

I asked him how to do that and he taught me to do those "lightspeed moves". It was difficult but in the end I worked them out.
