  • Now you are crossing into territory more familiar to me. I spent a year and a half at Ft Campbell, Kentucky when I was in the Army. That is about ten miles from Clarksville. And crossing the Mississippee River into St Louis is an unforgettable experience.

  • Yes. I really loved that part of our road trip. Seeing the arch for the first time was amazing! Really this trip was just altogether brilliant for my son and I - exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Every day we awoke to some new and wonderful adventure. We are very lucky! Thanks for watching and your comment :)

    Sunbeam :)

  • Wonderful. You know, I spent years in art school and when I discovered quilt shows (years ago) it was clear to me that there are quilts that rival anything Picasso or Matisse or any abstract artist has done. Looking at this video, I can't believe you do not have your own TV program. You have everything it takes -- sterling voice, articulateness, genuineness, and infinite charm. Best, Ian

  • Hi Ian - I dont know how but I missed this great comment - thank you!! What a wonderful set of compliments in there too - much appreciated. I would love to do some presenting - I am sure there is more to it than a YT video - but I hope I get the chance one of these days to give it a whirl :) Best wishes, Sunbeam :)

  • You know that I'm in L.A. where the standards are high - Sunbeam, this tape alone would get you an interview and most likely a job on an established program. By the way - those little girls look SO happy!!! Now we all wish we'd had an English "Auntie Sunbeam" as a kid growing up in the midwest! --Ian "Good News L.A." Ray

  • Then you need to tell me where to send the tape.....hehe!!

"Auntie Sunbeam" - Aww...what a lovely concept!! Thanks for such a lovely comment, Ian :)

    Sunbeam :)

  • Why I have missed all the new videos of you?

I'll sub you again...Jil I love your journey, especially the Ouilt Museum...great!

  • Hi Heidi!! I think that you were posting all your Tennessee ones when I was posting these - so we were both busy!! I will be along to see your 'Paris at night' one soon - I have had that in my Shared Videos - saving it for a treat!! :)

    Thanks for watching! Sunbeam :)

  • those quilts are fantastic, i wonder if they havea website.. loving this journey..

  • Thank you! I think they do have a website - if you google National Quilt Museum Paducah - you will be sure to find it! :)

  • Excellent and interesting video and beautiful views !

  • Thank you Tadek :) I really appreciate your kindness and support in commenting :) Sunbeam :)

  • I know that was a long road trip but you didn't have to break the car (LOL)! The "giggles" can be contagious, you had me giggling too...Ha, ha! I like the Cracker Barrel restaurants but we don't have any here in California. The quilt museum sounds like a wonderful stop! My wife also wants to learn to make quilts! Great road trip Sunbeam, I enjoyed it! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)

  • Hello FrAnK :) lol on the car...I guess you just have to find your own entertainment on a trip that long...lol...It was so funny cos I had been messing about trying to get my hair reasonable ready for the 'shoot'...being silly with Jack like I was Princess Sunbeam etc to make him laugh....and somehow my elbow caught it and it ended up unceremoniously in my lap...LOL...Served me right for acting like a 'star'..LOL

Thanks so much for watching :)

    Sunbeam :)

  • Jill and Jack

    Drove down the track

    As fast as they could make it;

    Women drivers, laugh out loud..............

Then she goes and breaks it!

A great video Jill and a very accomplished and natural presenting style.

Great camera work Jack... 5*s to each of you ;-)

    Mark...

  • Hello Mark! I posted a reply to this the other day and it seems to have poofed!!

Anyways...thank you for your little poem :)...and for your compliments on my video....Jack did do a good job on the filming in this one...he had to stand there for a long time (for a 13 year old) while I did a few takes of each bit...lol :) He maybe has forgiven me right about now, when he can see the finished article...hehe :)

    Best wishes, Sunbeam :)

  • I think I might have rented that car after you!! :) Cracker Barrel rocks... I had no idea there's a National Quilt Museum! .. the stuff you learn ... Can't wait for next Thursday, it's becoming a habit :)

    mel.

  • Hello Mel Mel....lol on the rented car....:) I didnt know about the NQMuseum either - was so happy to come upon it by chance :)....Aww...on the habit - that's sweet :)

Have a great weekend, my friend :)

    Sunbeam :)

  • Quilting! Tried my hand at it adding a square to a memorial quilt for my mum - it's definitely an art! Gosh - the quilts you show here are really beautiful!

I've just watched Stephen Fry's series on the States - he travelled through each state in an English taxi. I'd say SF has some competition. Go gigglly sunbeam!

  • Hi Phillip! Well - kudos for you for working on a square at least....I havent ever tried anything yet! I love the notion of memorial quilts for our loved ones...so special :)

I will have to look out for that Stephen Fry series - I like his dry sense of humour at times - I can only imagine how he depicts America!!...lol :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend! Sunbeam :)

  • I tried to add onto my comment by replying to it but it just disappeared on me...so who knows where it went!!HaHa...Anyway, I ran out of room and I still had more to say... I am getting very anxious to see your next video!!! Can't wait to see what all you did in St.Louis. I bet Linda is really getting excited now!!! I don't know if we will be able to wait until next Thurs!!! Your videos have been great so far....can't wait to see what you have in store for us this time.....

  • Hi again Kelli....lol..on the disappearing comment - YT does that every now and then to keep us on our toes :) I am sure you will like next week's - it focuses on the zoo day and all that entailed....lol :) It should be fun to watch - particularly for those people that know the Ytubers there in real life...:)

  • Looks like you and Jack had so much fun giggling all the way to Stl :) The quilts are really neat! I have a special place in my heart for homemade quilts. My Grandma who is now 96 yrs old used to make quilts for the family. She made one for me when I was a little girl and now I have passed that along to my daughter who uses it to cuddle up to everynight. She made me a few others when we got married. They are so precious to me! The amount of work that goes into each one is incredible!!

  • Hi Kelli :) Oh - that is so lovely about your Grandma and the quilts....so beautiful to have those in the family to hold on to all the love and comfort within them :) I think it is cos of the amount of work in them that they are so special....it is like someone weaves their love and happiness into them somehow :)

  • Thanks for bringing us along, You guys look to be having such a great time, It's great to laugh! isn't it! All the women on my mum's side were quilters. Infact I have one on my bed that was made by my great grandmother. A very special blanket indeed. best wishes, winston

  • Hi Winson :) Aww..there is nothing better than sleeping under a special handmade quilt...I do that now...and the story of where I got it from comes in Part 9!! :)....Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you have a lovely weekend! Sunbeam :)

  • Thanks for another episode, I remember my grandmother and mother quilting when I was a little one. They had a quilting frame that they used and I'm not sure but I think they hung it from the ceiling. Does that make any sense to you quilters? Anyway, I think it was just more work for them and not what you'd call real fun. LOLL!!!

  • Hi Marcus!! Oh - so sweet on you as a 'little one' :) I really dont know much about the practicalities of them - just know I fancy having a go at it sometime...hehe :) I imagine a lovely sunny picture I could create :) Thanks so much for coming by :) Sunbeam :)

  • I am really enjoying your trip. Keep up the great work. So informative.

  • Thanks James...I appreciate you stopping by...hope you have a lovely weekend! Sunbeam :)

  • We are still on our way home to Florida from our long road trip to Yellowstone and can relate to your road trip. Will have to do a road video when I finally get home.

So wanted to go to the quilt museum but I knew it would bore my husband to tears even though he loves the quilts I make him. :)

Big hugs Jill. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi again! Oh how lovely - you are on a trip too :) Oh - shame on the Quilt Museum....Jack actually waited outside for me as he wasnt interested....lol. I said 'Well - you might not be - but I am going in' and that was that!....When I am talking at the end you can hear him sighing a little behind the camera...hehe!!

So, I wondered if you made quilts also...I am sure I will have a go at it sometime - I imagine it is very enjoyable :)

    Thanks for watching! Sunbeam :)

  • Hi again ... look at my other YT channel where I do my crafts and you can see some of the quilts that I made - very basic but fun still the same.

    Yes, I heard Jack. :)

Got back home safe and sound today from my trip ... :)

  • Hi - glad you got home safely from your trip - I will check out quilts on your other Channel - I had thought of that - but couldnt remember its name - but hopefully it will be on your profile somewhere cos I forgot which video I saw you talk about it on!! I will find it though and come have a look :)

  • There are a few videos the one latest is a wolf lap quilt I made my husband for father's day.

Looking foward to more of your videos - hopefully next week I may have more time to put up at least one video of our trip too. :)

PS - Cracker Barrel is my favorite place to eat. :)

  • I saw a couple of the videos - very interesting...I have a lot of learning ahead if I am to make a quilt one of these days!!

Look fwd to your travel vid(s) when you get chance etc....and yay on Cracker Barrel...lol...:) We are vegetarian and they dont have too much non-meaty - but the American pancakes keep us happy - so we had quite a few joyful visits there :)

  • Hi Sunbeam

It's really nice video and I enjoyed it.

You have had a such nice time.

  • Hello again :) We really did :) We were lucky coming off the Interstate where we did - as if by magic, something I really loved was there!! Thank you so much for watching! Sunbeam :)

  • Hi Larry :) I could have been very happy staying on at Pigeon Forge - particularly at that Splash Country Water Park....but I did have a 13 year old with me - who is always wanting to move onwards and upwards...lol...plus we had more YTubers to meet in St Louis...so had to hit the road! No - we never went to Shoneys....do they do good pancakes?...lol :) Thanks for watching :)

  • Hi Trish :) Aww...thank you :) I guess this is my version of a travel programme.....Though of course if I had a more professional one - I would be able to have hair and make up done on tap...oh the luxury of that!! :) I would love to swan about on some version of the 'Holiday' programme...lol...

Thanks for watching :) Sunbeam :)

  • I liked to see your appreciation of the Art of Quilting. I like it when they make scenes and pictures on the blankets. But the best part, IMO, was when you "knocked a chunk out of the car!" The laughter was a real treat to watch! -Brian.

  • Hello Brian :) Yes - lol on the 'car chunk' incident...it still makes me laugh today...such fun that Jack managed to catch the uncontrollable giggles on cam...hehe. I was thinking of doing an outtake vid from points on the trip at the very end of my series....and I still might - but decided this one deserved pride of place in here....as it does show what some of our 'car times' were like...it was wonderful time for Jack and I together :) Thanks for stopping by! Sunbeam :)

  • Ahhhh, Sunbeam, Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri .... and the Cracker Barrel!!! You're speaking my Southern language!!

Great fun!! Great video!! And your Sunbeam's are shining through, lovely lady!! Many stars!!!

    David

  • Hi David!! Yes, yes!! I felt so at home in these States...but what am I talking about - I havent found a State I dont feel at home in yet and I must have been to 70% of them at least by now...lol :) I really did enjoy this trip though and yes - Cracker Barrels....where have they been all my life? I cant believe I never visited them before....

Thank you for such a sweet comment on my beams too...that's what happens when I get a fit of giggles...hehe :)

    Sunbeam :)

  • Such an interesting video! I am so glad that you have had such wonderful time! You deserve it! You are a sweetheart! ;)

  • Hi Karen :) Thank you so much....you are so sweet yourself...I am still imagining what havoc you are going to play with men's hearts on here if you come on as a redhead in one of your vids...lol :) Have a lovely evening :) Sunbeam :)

  • You highlighted one of the parts of traveling I love the most: not quilting, but road tripping.

  • Not the quilting?....Oh - what a shame - I had such a sweet vision of you sitting there at peace creating a quilt....hehe ;)....But yes - road tripping - lots of fun!! :)

  • lovely video, keep up good work : ) ,, you are lucky be grateful and happy :) 5 stars

  • Oh - I am...I am...I give thanks constantly for the many wonders here, there and everywhere :) Thanks for stopping by, my friend :) Sunbeam :)

  • Hi Sunbeam those are lovely quilts , It looks like you had a great trip with lots of laughs and saw a lot of our country , more than I have lol All the best :o)tm *****

  • Hi Uncledave! They really were amazing - some of them were like intricate pictures...wonderful creations! We really did have a lot of laughs...lol...I like to laugh....good for the soul :) Thanks so much for coming by, Sunbeam :)

  • ROFL. I was howling at the rental car vandalism. Too hilarious! Let's hope they're not watching this video. I had no idea you and Jack carried on like that with other people's property. LOL. Jill your soundtrack and narration were very soothing and made us feel like we were right along with you there on the trip. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. It was a wonderful production as always. I can't wait for the next one. :)

  • LOL...The funny thing about it was that I had been just hastily trying to get my hair somewhere near decent before Jack filmed me and my elbow hit the ceiling of the car somehow and knocked it out on me!

It was just so funny cos I was being such a primping princess being silly saying 'let me get ready for the shoot' to make Jack laugh and I ended up with half the car on my lap..LOL...We did fix it though - the darn thing must have been loose already -honest...honest!!...Thanks for watching!! :)

  • woman thy name is vanity! LOL. so powerful is need to fix her hair, she destroyed the car. LOL god bless you Jill. it's a miracle the under carriage didn't drop out and with the doors falling off. thank god you didn't paint your nails or brush your teeth. :)

  • It is actually great driving an automatic cos you do have a spare foot to decorate toe nails and allow them to dry in the sun...lol :)...I did have to focus though on the driving - I did get really tired on the bigger trips - shame Jack wasnt old enough to share the mileage...I never regained my sleep pattern after the treefrog interference either...lol...and so I was pretty exhausted most of the rest of the trip!! Maybe that is why I was so prone to giggle fits...hehe :)

  • LOL. ROFL. i'm at the cafe and people are looking at me as i laugh out loud reading this. :) you definitely need a tree frog 'nick knack' to adorn your night table. i see them everywhere now. in book stores, newspapers, posters, t-shirts...they're everywhere all of a sudden. we're lucky that you got so tired then because it was so great seeing you so happy and laughing so much. :)

  • Hi Sunbean, Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas. Your in my homeland now. I hope you have a great time and everyone is friendly. One of my life long friends lives close to Paducah. I've been there many times. Awesome video, --:)Rod

  • Hi Rod! Oh - you are so lucky to live in this area - all of it was just lovely!! :) I liked the feel of Paducah a lot....it just seemed kind of peaceful :)

Sorry I didnt know you lived in these parts before - we could have met up for a coffee to say 'hello' :)

Thanks so much for watching! Sunbeam :)

  • Hey, you it's great ,but it kept stopping while I watched. I guess to many people are watching right now. I'll be looking at it again real soon. The quilts are beautiful. You are too.!!!!! XO Linda

  • Hi :) Sometimes there are feed issues...if you just press 'pause' on it and leave it a minute or two - it will usually load a little more and then you can watch it smoothly, you just press play again once the 'red line' has gone further along under the video.....Thanks for watching....we are nearly at your place...hehe :) Is it funny seeing the journey we took up to see you? xoxo

  • Glad your having fun! Tennessee will miss you and the family! I have to say What bad hair day? You always look smashing! :) Hope you have fun at your next stop! MIss Sun*giggles*Beam! LOL!

  • Haha, I was really getting hazy. At 4.21 I thought, damned, now there is only 1 min. left to gat a peep on the YouTubers you met there. Imagine me at 5.00. Lol. I was getting so nervous then..... It´s a wonderful video. I loved the saudi arabian pattern most. Next Thrusday I´m in Spain. Don´t laugh. But we´ll be back on Sunday and THEN......... I´m really getting excited.
