@Icrackmyselfuptimes2 Think about a cat's lifespan. 10-20(if they're very well taken care of, 25) years as a pet. City strays usually live 2-6 years. I can only guess that most feral cats would live 4-10 years, if they actually did live in clans as in the books. And now what, we're on season 4? Even if that's a year each, Firestar's like, 20 years old, I think(I've only read the first series and half the second, I don't know how many books are in the fourth or which he dies in).

Since the average life expectancy is 70 or so in the US for healthy individuals, and only a few(relative to population) make it beyond 80, 85 if you push it. That's not to count for the fact that even if Firestar is a long-lived cat, he has to retire sometime. Elders seem to live 2-3 years in Thunderclan, so, Firestar's got what? 3 or 4 good years left in him? Not accounting for dibilitating injuries from battle or whatnot.
