Maximum Bob this is the best tribute to the Spit I have ever seen. Some graphics are a litlle dated but the Ihonour and service you do this plane and it's pilots are immense. It is truly great. Well done mate and well done again.
Certainly the Spitfire was regarded with respect and admiration by German pilots. From one source, a captured Spirtfire was analyzed and flown by Luftwaffe engineers. The remarks were such that the German analysts believed British pilots were stupid because the plane was so simple and easy to fly (as compared to the Bf109E versions in service with the Luftwaffe at the time). The Spitfire is a true elegant gal who got the job done and brought the boys back home.
and for ''the best'' as only 2x20mm...well if you only compare the fighters at the last year of a six year war well your missing the big picture but if you want to do that I could throw in the Me-262 but at that stage the overwhelming numbers of the allies cancels any possible comparison. btw even if you count the ''claimed kills'' it doesn't even gets near the kills of Josef (Pips) Priller (101) who was one of the many Ace pilots 50+kills about 327 pilots...your RAF has one, maybe...

Yak-9 and very good pilots (not all) ex Ivan Nikitovich Kozhedub 62 kills

Great vid but to all those who idealyse the spitfire...its not a super weapon and the bf 109 is its equal...even the fw 190 was equal in performance has the mark 9...attrition was the name of the game for the allies, thats why Great Britain wanted the US in the war...everyone who thinks otherwise are victim of their own propoganda.
@cid871 The spitfire left the 109 in the dust once it got to t he IX stage, and the IX was better then the FW 190, even if only by a little. Once it got to VIII, it dominated 109s and 190s
@flintrocks i'm not sure if your saying it dominated the 190 or that it was just a little bit better than the 190...but the IX version was a response to the appearance of he 190A. The testing of both machine by British test proved that they had achieve parity. Key word here is parity...that being said this the spitfire is a great plane, it's just not the super plane that sweeps aside everything in front of it...and even then the plane is only as good as the pilot...respect to all the flyers...

@flintrocks see this is why I dislike these kind of argument (nothing against you) the 190 is considered better than the 109 but the 109 could reach high altitude faster...p-51 considered highly maneuverable (only because it bleed of airspeed like crazy when turning)...each had their advantages that the pilot could use to win a fight...they all were great fighters in the same league and no one really outclassed anybody...expect the US who had a Buttload of planes to throw at the enemy...
@cid871 Uh no, they never had 4 20mms, unless they took wing pods, but that would make them heavy and really unmaneuverable, early variants had 2 7mm machine guns and 2 20mm cannons. later variants had 2 13mm MGs and 2 cannons. The cannons were inferior to the Hispano cannons on the spitfires, and even then, in some variants the spitfire had 2 .50 cals and 2 20mm hispano cannons.
@flintrocks you would be right if I was talking about the BF 109 (2x51cal. and 1x30mm), but it was for the FW 190...(4x 20mm and 2x 51cal.). Anyway we could argue about performance but if we crunch the numbers...the Best British Ace James Edgar Johnson had 38 kills while German Ace Josef (Pips) Priller had 101 Kills which includes 68 Spitfire and I could name 10 other German pilots who had more Spitfire kills than the total of the best British...anyway stay passionate...
@cid871 the best RAF had 51 kills btw, and that was in a hurricane lol, you know, Marmaduke "Pat" Pattle? so that proves its not all about the plane. Yeah, some of the 190s had 4 20mms, but the best one (Thge D9) only had 2, same with the other late war variant the F-8. Also, you cant "crunch the numbers" based off of number of kills. German pilots got tons more kills the Allied pilot because they didnt rotate off, they were always on the frontline,

@flintrocks and for the part of them losing a lot of experienced pilots at the end of the war well your right but a great majority of them (Aces) survived the war...in the last two years most kills where rookie pilots with unsufficient training (because of lack of fuel) got killed. They were easy prey for the well trained allied pilots (trained in america with rotated pilots)...but i think we got sidetracked...Spitfire=GREAT PLANE but not super weapon...brought RAF with the best of them in 1940.

@7511232 At the start of WW2 german and brit planes were even matched However German pilots had been fighting since 1936 in spain and already had 4 year more combat XP then brits and were winning the air war over England what changed the fight was Germany's failure of command tatics ..They changed them and attacked London giving the RAF time to build and change there fighting tatics This and advancements in there aircraft (superchargers) and a high octance fuel VS german Synthetic fuel low grade

I dunno how many times I've commented on this but I love it! The music everything! It sums up for me perfectly what the Spitfire was. All I can say is that bar some older clunkier graphics in the middle and the improbable attack on the convoy lol is there anyway you could rejig these scenes with better more up to date Graphics in certain areas the introduction is just brilliant you have to keep that. Could you please use my suggestions its 7'1/2 outta 10 now just imagine a tweak or 2 AMAZING.

That the later mark spitfires tore any A model Fw 190 "to shreds" is is overstating the case a bit. Priller, Wurmheller, Schnell, etc. were all western front Fw 190 aces with much higher confirmed kills than RAF pilots, and they never stated that they had a inferior machine to a Spitfire.
@bmused55 the Fw was Always faster then the Spit from 41-45 and they had better Roll rate and Turnrate in high speeds they had much better Firepower whit 4 cannons and 2 mg counter the 8mg of early spits and 4mg and 2 cannons of the later once
You're basing that fully on the game. In reality the Spitfire is one of the best planes ever buildt, it rightfully deserves it's place in history with a legendary reputation.
Don't twist games with reality, it's not a Noob-Plane, it's a war-winner.
@Ascend3r Actually spitfire was sort of a noob plane in that it was far more forgiving than the 109, could be flown well with less experience and even its armament gave more dispersion and lots more chances of hitting for the novice pilot. All of these are big pluses when you have a war of attrition of pilots as was battle of britain. And afterwards you could get pilots from all over the empire, not just an elite who fought in spain or spent years training. All plusses.

Quick history lesson Brit pilots had less exp then german which had xp fight b4 1939 ME-109 - spitfire, ME -190 -Tempest germans had fuel injection and lower octane fuel due to constant bombing on fuel factories brits had carb engines and higher octance from the usa which added better then germans with superchargers germans spent time on making detailed planes ..which slowed them down to make more (ME-262) england was reinforced by USA as germany made the mistake attacking russia

Depends on what model BF-109 your talking about D, F , B. ?? early war, mid and late war The 109 was surpassed by the Spitfire, P-51 and Tempest MK V Thats Why many German pilots were happy to see the FW 190 Spitfires had low Thin wings to be able to have good lift and turn but this also was a problem when it came to gun MM usage Each plane on both sides had advantages and disadvantages. The 109 was a great fighter but not the best. otherwise we would be chatting on Meintube!!!
@7511232 The ME-109 did not have much more rage then the spitfire and the brits knew the Me-109 only had 5 to 10 mins of fuel while over england to dogfight And would use the tactic to wait till they were headed back to engage them..The Me-109 could fight and run out of fuel when heading back or Run way and risk getting shot down from behind ..So once again range of the 109 didn't matter

wrong, the worlds nuclear apocolypse would have happened by now, the Germans would of had a nuclear program by the end of 1945, and they would have a stockpile of nuclear weapons by 1946, so the nuclear holycost would have happened by now.
Also, travel at the speed of light is allmost impossible, you need a unlimited amount of fuel, we will not discover the way to break the barrier of light for another millenia or two.
Also, you cannot go anywhere without fuel, unless somehow you can come up with a fuel cell that is light enough to carry in a rocket or engine of some sort, and is able to recycle itself, and never run out, travel at the speed of light is truely impossible.

Dont forget those ones whose life was sacrified for the glory of Germany, those ones, that where the greatest pilots in History. Dont forget that a German life is as important as a North American life or a Indian life or an African life. When we look back to the past we must remember that we are here just because the human being wanted to.
I try to remember those who sacrificed their lives because of the wars. Many pilots died in vain and many died because of the stupidity of one man. I only hope that all countries learn from this tremendous horror.

Pretty wicked game, kinda hard but tons of fun to play, and the SPit is by far my favorite plane to fly.....the only things i dont really like about it is in the game atleast they make its 30cals almost useless and it is god awful slow, and thats the Spit MK IX25 w/ the 25LB speed boost haha
Freakyflow, That's what I meant about easy to knock them down, if they got their wing tip under the wing of the V1 and tip it enough to throw the Gyro off, the V1 fell (hopefully) harmlessly to the ground. Yes, It did take the skill of the pilots.

@7511232 At the start of WW2 german and brit planes were even matched However German pilots had been fighting since 1936 in spain and already had 4 year more combat XP then brits and were winning the air war over England what changed the fight was Germany's failure of command tatics ..They changed them and attacked London giving the RAF time to build and change there fighting tatics This and advancements in there aircraft (superchargers) and a high octance fuel VS german Synthetic fuel low grade

I dunno how many times I've commented on this but I love it! The music everything! It sums up for me perfectly what the Spitfire was. All I can say is that bar some older clunkier graphics in the middle and the improbable attack on the convoy lol is there anyway you could rejig these scenes with better more up to date Graphics in certain areas the introduction is just brilliant you have to keep that. Could you please use my suggestions its 7'1/2 outta 10 now just imagine a tweak or 2 AMAZING.

When it first came out, it certainly was. But, Superine introduced a new model of the Spitfire shortly afterward which tore the FW190 to shreds.

That the later mark spitfires tore any A model Fw 190 "to shreds" is is overstating the case a bit. Priller, Wurmheller, Schnell, etc. were all western front Fw 190 aces with much higher confirmed kills than RAF pilots, and they never stated that they had a inferior machine to a Spitfire.

You're basing that fully on the game. In reality the Spitfire is one of the best planes ever buildt, it rightfully deserves it's place in history with a legendary reputation.
Don't twist games with reality, it's not a Noob-Plane, it's a war-winner.

@Ascend3r Actually spitfire was sort of a noob plane in that it was far more forgiving than the 109, could be flown well with less experience and even its armament gave more dispersion and lots more chances of hitting for the novice pilot. All of these are big pluses when you have a war of attrition of pilots as was battle of britain. And afterwards you could get pilots from all over the empire, not just an elite who fought in spain or spent years training. All plusses.

I guess the game got it right in that respect and given that they had a shortage of pilots during the Battle of Britain I guess that's also one of the best things about the spit.

Quick history lesson Brit pilots had less exp then german which had xp fight b4 1939 ME-109 - spitfire, ME -190 -Tempest germans had fuel injection and lower octane fuel due to constant bombing on fuel factories brits had carb engines and higher octance from the usa which added better then germans with superchargers germans spent time on making detailed planes ..which slowed them down to make more (ME-262) england was reinforced by USA as germany made the mistake attacking russia

Depends on what model BF-109 your talking about D, F , B. ?? early war, mid and late war The 109 was surpassed by the Spitfire, P-51 and Tempest MK V Thats Why many German pilots were happy to see the FW 190 Spitfires had low Thin wings to be able to have good lift and turn but this also was a problem when it came to gun MM usage Each plane on both sides had advantages and disadvantages. The 109 was a great fighter but not the best. otherwise we would be chatting on Meintube!!!

@7511232 The ME-109 did not have much more rage then the spitfire and the brits knew the Me-109 only had 5 to 10 mins of fuel while over england to dogfight And would use the tactic to wait till they were headed back to engage them..The Me-109 could fight and run out of fuel when heading back or Run way and risk getting shot down from behind ..So once again range of the 109 didn't matter

Also, you cannot go anywhere without fuel, unless somehow you can come up with a fuel cell that is light enough to carry in a rocket or engine of some sort, and is able to recycle itself, and never run out, travel at the speed of light is truely impossible.

Pretty wicked game, kinda hard but tons of fun to play, and the SPit is by far my favorite plane to fly.....the only things i dont really like about it is in the game atleast they make its 30cals almost useless and it is god awful slow, and thats the Spit MK IX25 w/ the 25LB speed boost haha

Freakyflow, That's what I meant about easy to knock them down, if they got their wing tip under the wing of the V1 and tip it enough to throw the Gyro off, the V1 fell (hopefully) harmlessly to the ground. Yes, It did take the skill of the pilots.
