Statistics aside, Toyota's do fail and I've seen the engines completely wrecked at low miles, I've got a Peugeot 205 GTi with 200,000 miles on the clock and still going strong so no car is absolutely reliable, it takes a lot of time and money to keep the car in good working order so stop assuming that Japanese cars are perfect cos they are most definitely not!

I admit the Japanese had the edge on cars vs American cars from mid-70s on to early 90s, but nowadays, American cars are really starting to impress me. I'm convinced if I'm buying a utility vehicle or a sports sedan, I'm buying American. I'm never buying Chrysler, however.

Its not like Toyota SUVs having problems with their ball joints. Besides Toyota has other problems as well. For instance the rust recalls- its just not the throttle even though that one is the most dangerous.

It is not a big deal though, I don't leave kids unattended in a car with the keys in the ignition. I'm sure on this one, my older ram has endless transmission issues though (4 within 200,000 miles). I think there aren't many issues with dodge trucks (the cars are crap though). I just have to make sure to maintain the transmission like I have, or I'll be in the shop for a trans again. I actually like ford, gm and chrysler equally when it comes to trucks. I just can't believe that because of toyota's greed to be #1 they would put out trucks with rusty frames and snapping camshafts.

Personally, I have a hard time believing the pedal assemblies are "physically sticking" because they have teflon bearings and all have the same basic design not to mention this company makes pedal assemblies for other companies that don't have these problems.

What I personally believe is going on is that it is a sensor or computer glitch because Toyota had a TSB about vehicles accelerating on their own a few MPH around 38MPH, up to 42MPH or something by themselves.

Well, I have to give Toyota credit in one respect, they are issuing a recall and working hard to find a solution even if it cripples the company.

Chrysler actually had this same issue with Jeep Grand Cherokees (thousands of complaints) were suddenly accelerating, to this day they blame consumers and take no responsibility.

I just read a blog aricle from Chrysler LLC's blog posts and Chrysler "still" doesn't even believe sudden unintended acceleration is even possible! They blame drivers!

As much as I dislike Chrysler, I don't fully agree with you here. Toyota has already sold MILLIONS of these vehicles verses how little of vehicles that Chrysler has sold. It still is a concern but what I'm trying to point out is that there is way more people at risk who drive the 'Yotas because there are more people driving them and because there was actually a defect in design found, while Chrysler hasn't diagnosed the problem and there is much less people driving them.

I see where you're coming from but look, if this were Chrysler, they would NOT have stepped up, doesn't matter how many lawsuits.

This is not just speculation, they have "proven" that this repeatedly.

For example, Gen3 Seatbelts in OVER 14 MILLION (NOT 4), 14 MILLION vehicles that Chrysler SHOULD recall but refuses to. They even "witnessed" crash test dummies being ejected in testing. There is no telling how many people have died from Gen3, and affects far more vehicles!

Recalls aren't really forced, that's a major misconception. The NHTSA / DOT doesn't just go around telling automakers "hey, recall these now!".

If it were Chrysler, Toyota would guarnateed still be dragging its feet, DOING NOTHING, denying it is even possible (trust me Chrysler has done this before) and continues to do business this way. Chrysler even uses friends in the NHTSA to ge out of these things!

The Audis were jumping into forward and reverse from a standstill from people hitting the gas instead of the brake and believe it or not that happens all the time today. If you look up NHTSA complaints, nowadays about every single automaker has "unintended acceleration complaints" (I shifted into reverse and my car took off like a rocket, shot through a building). They really don't seem to be doing a good job telling customers what to do "if" this happens while they work to figure the problem out not only show how to properly clip mats in so they are anchored and can't slide but also what to do should the throttle ever stick beyond this (because it is still happening).

Tell drivers to immediately try shifting into Neutral, ease the E-Brake to aid the Brakes if the vehicle already has too much momentum or is being overpowered by the engine.

I realize it is difficult to troubleshoot being it only happens every once and a while but a simple fix would be to update the PCM to stop reving the engine when the brake is applied. Maybe not possible but there are brake sensors in addition to one for the accelerator pedal.

Either that or figure out WTF is still causing it beyond the floor mats.

Pedals are either sticking and need a revision or it's a sensor / computer glitch. The pedial assembly is either physically sticking or not.
