  • Fail!! It's a 454 with mild cam dressed up like a 572. Real 572's try to jump out of the car when you blip the throttle, that thing just sits there. Besides it I had just dropped $10,000 on a 572 and started it and heard that lifter tick it would have gone back to GMPP for sure... Nice try but really why say it's something it's not, that is like putting lipstick on a pig. You may have 572cu inches. but it's no GMPP 572 crate motor.

  • @usnavyseals99 It's a 572 you can tell by the special headers, intake and, carb. 572 needs special headers reg headers won't work (exhaust port angle)

    Some guys buy the valve covers and fake it but those kind of people are just posers. Thse same posers run truck blocks and call them L-88's or old 454's with loud mufflers and tell everyone its an LS7. Funny these guys are never seen at the local track though.

  • @burnoutking1971 i think lm7 and lq9 s also look just like a ls series engine and they both came in trucks. are those the engines you were talking about? i know that you can put a ls series intake on those. but if you put a cam a differnt computer and the intake maybe some headers and they can make 500.

  • @burnoutking1971 What are you talking about?The 572 is just a tall deck block,so the intake is different.Those headers look the same as mine,2 1/8 primary pipes,hooker super comps.The only difference is the cylinder head is slightly higher and further out because of the extra 0.400" deck height.Hence a different intake(or spacers) & possible header clearance issues with steering/frame components.I'm not sure if Hooker makes headers to fit a stock f-body/572 configuration.

  • @72bigblockmonte Check out TheP51man on here, see my comments there and his reply about his install of a 572 into a 69 Camaro. I agree, 572 deck height is 10.200 reg BBC is 9.800, yes intake spacer would work but using those spacers is micky mouse. Yes as you know, headers can be a pain the ass. I have never bought a set that fit out of the box for anything. Anyway P51 man had to have his headers made I believe.

  • @72bigblockmonte Hooker makes pretty good stuff, the Hooker headers fit well on my camaro except I had to grind one little spot on the flange to make room for a sparkplug socket. I have never had a set fit right out of the box. I bought a set of ceramic coated headers once and had to dimple one little spot on the drivers side for steering shaft (right at the rag joint) clearence. So now I just buy plain steel, fit them first, then have them coated. std is best brackets fit nice.

  • @burnoutking1971 Where in Canada are you?The headers on P51's car don't look like customs but they might be,something like Lemons,or ? Lemons Headers are QUALITY!!! If you wanna put that engine in your chevelle,I would contact Lemons and get a price!

  • @72bigblockmonte Hi Im in South Ontario near Toronto. Oh I want to put a 572 into my Chevelle so badly, I just don't have 16k. I saw a 572 on kijiji for sale, I want to buy it. but no cash. Tried to sell my Corvette and engine collection, no takers, just cheap people wanting stuff for nothing. Thanks if I get some cash I might looking into Lemons, currently Im thinking of building a 496 my friend build one for about 5 grand and it's pretty nice. Pump gas, low comp. big power.

  • @burnoutking1971 I'm in B.C.,Langley.I got a 548ci. bb in my '69 nova(race car)14.5 /1,titanium valves/jesel rockers/belt drive,etc.,etc.,I'm puttin' together a 496(all eagle stuff,rods/crank),mahle pistons for my '72 Monte.It's a # match 402/turbo 400 car,but I'm puttin' a richmond 5 speed with the 496 in it,that's my street car.

    I'll keep the 402/400 for aircare out here.Plus the 496 can be a spare for my Nova.

  • @72bigblockmonte Nice, I'm sold on the 496 after my friend built one. His even works well in a 65 Biscayne with a 4 speed and he put oval port heads on it. I swore up and down it would not work but it does and pulls well, he got the eagle set too alum. rods stuff. I think the 572 is just a dream for me now but the 496 is def. do-able. Plus I can keep my headers, intake, Currently my Chevelle is running a std bore 427, .636/.641 roller cam sq port heads, demon 850, 3500 stall and 4:11 rear.

  • @burnoutking1971 I got "patriot" heads for my 496,320 cc intakes,a little big for for my street car,but the cubes,standard trans should help.I'm gonna put a hydraulic roller cam in it,the Lunati Voodoo one with I think it's around 0.600" lift.My Nova can be driven on the street,but it's hard on it,plus it's just plain silly!But the Monte will remain streetable.I have a mini spool in it right now,but Richmond makes a locker that fits the stock case,that's next!stock case,2.73's.

  • @72bigblockmonte Honestly, I will never buy another bbc roller cam again, really expencive, the reg flat tappet is 1/3 the price. then spend the extra money on that new dist. that msd has, you can adjust the curve easily and no box to mount as well. hey where did you get the 548 ci? is that an aftermarket block with a stroker kit? I was looking into merlin blocks and short blocks from a few different companies like Bill Mitchell

  • @burnoutking1971 The 548 was built by a local performance shop,it's a callies billet crank with oliver rods,plus a overbore from a freshening.The block is a dart block.Yes,roller cams and all the paraphenalia is expensive but as they say,so much area under the curve!

  • @burnoutking1971 Btw,the 2.73's work with the low gear in the Richmond 5 speed,it's basically like having a muncie 4 gear with 4:11's in the first four gears,then 5th is 1:1,with 2:73's,so I can kinda get some mileage/not beat up the engine when I wanna drive somewhere.Of course it started out milder,I was just gonna put aluminum heads on the 402,little bigger cam,etc,but I got a killer deal on the 496 stuff,so...............you know how things escalate!But I still want it to remain a driver!

I would love to do a nice sbd and richmond in my 81 Z28 the 4 speed in that car is ok but lacks a little on the highway. the current smog 350 sucks, pretty boaring. I was wondering about the pro comp bbc heads for a buget build but I dont know anyone who has tried them.

  • @burnoutking1971 I have heard nothing but bad about those procomp heads.They are offshore(china)manufactured,I'­ve heard the castings are poor,all the valves,springs,retainers are cheap.The Patriot heads are fairly inexspensive and I've heard lots of good.I think there was an issue a few years ago with patriot,but they resolved it.I have a new set of springs for my patriots,but that's all I'm changing.The castings are really nice.

  • @72bigblockmonte Thanks I might check out the Patriot heads, I would have to change the springs anyway to match the cam and have the shop give them a once over just to make sure the seats are good etc. I think new amuminum heads will out flow any old square port head from back in the day. Someone told me you could run a little more compression on the street too because the alm. heads dissapate heat better. Of course in my area 94 is getting hard to find, all the Sunoco' are gone, now is Petro C

  • @burnoutking1971 You can run more compression with aluminium heads compared to cast iron,but it's not some huge amount.Just the weight savings is good,then Smokey Yunic recommended a product in his book to coat the heads waterpassages so they don't lose so much heat energy.All these new coatings will also bring the power back up to iron head level,coatings for the combustion chambers,etc.!

  • I got one of these in my 67 camaro w/ dual shot cheater NOS system that I'am not afraid to abuse it when the coast is clear......If only I could afford a stupid cam corder and to learn to up load vidoes and be you- tube hero, but than again who cares for now.

  • Yes - the mufflers are right under the trunk and the tail pipes come through cut outs in the rear panel. Also, not sure if you noticed, but the tail lights were filled in and he made cutouts and inserted LEDs... Something different...

When I built my first engine when I was 16 I BARELY had enough to build it so I made sure I didnt do stupid things to it.

  • Ok how did you get the exhaust to come out so close to the center. Usually the fuel tank is there ? Did you relocate the tank to the trunk & how did u do it, awesome love the 572
