Holy sheep sjit you like the smiths and the cure also= wow those guys are great! i love the smiths and morrissey= the greatest ever! new order rocks the kazbah, have a greta day you rock!
Yea I agree w/ potbreaker, 94 was one hell of a year for personally. Crazy how one song brings it all back for me. Plus this song is beyond bitchin, yea thats right bitchin.
hoho!! I´m also affected by the 1994 melancholy disease....wild years, intense feelings , with some great records of that era (this one from soundgarden, purple from STP and Youthanasia from megadeth ) ...droogie years, but the best of my life. Everything went down in intensity from that point on...shame
from one of the epistles of paul. "the man will sanctify the woman, the the woman shall sanctify the man." and also, "a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife, and the shall become one. this is a Mystery to me.
One of the best Soundgarden songs. It's funny, but when you get an album and rock it out for awhile some songs stick out to you and become your favorites, and others just don't, for whatever reason. Then you listen to the same album years later and new songs are discovered and stand apart that didn't before...The point is: this is one of those songs...Resurrected and now, Eternal
Yea its like that with the lion king soundtrack. I liked it as a kid but i love it now. Dude it fuckin rocks my socks son. Its got hip hop elements, sexual references and trippy songs about acid trips. Me and my friends dance around in our boxers to it. We are so manly. Then we wrestle. Afterwards we have lemon smoothies. We are not gay though. Oh we bake pies for our mothers as well
i read somewhere the song refers to young groupies who offered themselves to a married cornel on tour and he had to battle temptation and the subsequent shame of infidelity
Don't worry about the video being pictures of you--it's actually the most unique thing I've seen on here in some time!
It would be kinda boring if it was just the Superunknown album cover for 4 minutes; don't get me wrong, it's a cool picture. I just like variety.
EXCELLENT song, too; one of my favorites. If I could play an instrument, I'd form a band and we'd cover it! Speaking of, has any band covered a Soundgarden song *on an album* since SG broke up?
Damn theres this band that sounds just like Soundgarden...well not sound just his vocals are liike Corneils....theyre called Operator...check em out theyre gud...
actually i think operator might be the band chris's brother's in. I'm not 100 percent sure. I do know though that his brother's in a band and has a similar sounding voice
No but da rating says that if the remaindaer of Soundgarden would get back together that johnny strong would be the only one fitted in Cornells place...oh yeah Johnny Strong is the Singer for Operator
Awesome man! Great song! I agree man Bad Motorfinger has good ones but then you get to superuknown is fucking heaven. Down on the upside is just about the same! YES
Uhm... I don't know if you're completely right about the song's meaning... I think its more about how Cornell's dad was shit. Shame, shame, throw yourself away. Parent telling a kid to get out and that their worthless... I mean that could be one interpretation (I read he had a shitty dad... I don't have a source, so don't quote me on that being completely true..). Point is - not every song by grunge bands is about drugs.
eh, i suppose it could be a combination of the two... or possibly, he takes the drugs and then thinks the "shame" and "throw yourself away" parts afterwards for doing something that he knows that he shouldn't do. so yeah, now that i'm looking at it on a different day, i can see that...
For me this is the best soungarden`s album by far . I´m 32 and proud to belong to the last generation who had real music and when buy a cd was an important and inspiring , where is the music now ?
Yea. I remember looking through all Soundgarden's music, and thinking "Badmotorfinger has some damn good songs in it" and then looking at Superunknown and realising there isn't a single bad song on there.
yes it did..when soundgarden anounced the world they broke up! Best rock band ever! best rock album- superunknown. since 94 i hear almost every single day! what if they still exist?
Well... there is some good stuff out there right now, you just have to dig for it. A few good bands as of recent are Killswitch Engage and Karnivool (interesting sound).
You sir, are so damn right I can not fault any of that comment. Music has really gone down the drain. We're lucky we still have absolute gems like Soundgarden.
I can't imagine living out in Seattle during the early 90s and seeing Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam on the same bill in some shitty ass bar/club. It must've been fucking RUTHLESS!
Soundgarden was just one of those classic bands from the 90's that never seemed to have a bad song...everything they did was great, Superunknown was without any doubt one of the best albums ever. Cornell is a writing genious...Soundgarden, Audioslave, his own stuff. Just brilliant... ;)
What's goin on? Why is there only 2 vids for this song? Youtube probably deleted them...Why delete good songs like these and keep emo vids like chemical romance and panic at the disco?
matt wrote this as an instrumental, and chris and the band loved it.
at the time of the 'demo' (matt's version) he asked me if i had any weed. I said yes, i had gotten some fresh tendrils that morning... after recording his version, I asked him for the title for the track sheet... "Fresh Tendrils", he said. the name obviously stuck, though Chris' lyrics make no mention of it. =)
I've heard a few interpretations of this song. One is that it's about the temptation of infidelity that a combination of frequent separation from your wife and the abundance of groupies everywhere poses. Another is that it's about the temptation of substance abuse when you're trying to quit or cut back. Regardless, the song seems to be about temptation in one form or another.
Keep in mind that it was a writing collaboration between Chris and Matt and could therefore have more meanings than one. Another possibility is that the music was written first, and then various phrases or images that the music inspired were written down as the lyrics, which Chris stated on more than one occasion that he liked to do.
lmao I can't stop laughing when I watch this. It's really odd but I had to put pictures or it woulden't upload so I just put some pics of my holiday a couple of years ago xD

Really, though, great song here.

i always thought it was a song about holding onto your anger and guilt over the years...
"if it sits upon your tongue"
"or naked in your eye"
"give little bits of"
"more than i could try"
"throw yourself AWAY.."
i dont know whatever a song has a different meaning to everyone.
