  • superunknown=greatest album of all time, masterpiece

  • longtime coming... cornell THE KING

  • i have hit my steering wheel more to this song than perhaps any other

  • Ive been walkin around for 38 years and this is the best shit ive ever heard....buy this album!!!!

  • Does anyone else but me hear similarities between soundgarden and led zep, specifically Physical Graffiti and Presence?

  • you kinda looks like Layne Staley

  • Soundgarden didn't sound like any other band really. This song is one of the highlights of a unique and wonderful rock band.

  • Lots of their better songs are "criminally" under-acknowledged.

    Its quite painful:(

  • @budzmasta Agreed.

  • This is a criminally under-acknowledged soundgarden song!!

  • My favorite Soundgarden song along with Fell On Black Days.

  • i rocked these guys all through high school-SOUNDGARDEN fucking rocks dude

  • here too man, I've still got the casette I bought in 94. Wore the hell out of it that summer walking through dark woods after work

  • Holy sheep sjit you like the smiths and the cure also= wow those guys are great! i love the smiths and morrissey= the greatest ever! new order rocks the kazbah, have a greta day you rock!

  • Natasha "Mother F@$king" Schnieder rocks!

    Matt Cameron is the man!

  • first time i ever heard this song. its awesome.

  • this song is the money. wish SG would reunite.

who else here likes naked ladies? nothing like a kewl beer, and a picture or two of some naked ladies, huh?

  • @dmp78 they did they will be play this summer

  • Way back, when i first got this CD and couldn't remember its name, I called it the "long time coming song" hehe, I was so young back then....

    Really, though, great song here.

  • i always thought it was a song about holding onto your anger and guilt over the years...

"if it sits upon your tongue"

    "or naked in your eye"

    "give little bits of"

    "more than i could try"

    "throw yourself AWAY.."

i dont know whatever a song has a different meaning to everyone.

  • One of the best CD's I've purchased.

    -Many served the few

  • listen to ----at the gates----

  • Love this! Thanks for posting so I can listen at work!

  • classic. i love this band.

  • best band ever

  • Yea I agree w/ potbreaker, 94 was one hell of a year for personally. Crazy how one song brings it all back for me. Plus this song is beyond bitchin, yea thats right bitchin.

  • man'1994 was one hell of the year .listening to this song tooks me back to those wild years of mine

  • hoho!! I´m also affected by the 1994 melancholy disease....wild years, intense feelings , with some great records of that era (this one from soundgarden, purple from STP and Youthanasia from megadeth ) ...droogie years, but the best of my life. Everything went down in intensity from that point on...shame

  • there's NEVER a response to the scripture, a mystery to me.

  • from one of the epistles of paul. "the man will sanctify the woman, the the woman shall sanctify the man." and also, "a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife, and the shall become one. this is a Mystery to me.

  • One of the best Soundgarden songs. It's funny, but when you get an album and rock it out for awhile some songs stick out to you and become your favorites, and others just don't, for whatever reason. Then you listen to the same album years later and new songs are discovered and stand apart that didn't before...The point is: this is one of those songs...Resurrected and now, Eternal

  • Yea its like that with the lion king soundtrack. I liked it as a kid but i love it now. Dude it fuckin rocks my socks son. Its got hip hop elements, sexual references and trippy songs about acid trips. Me and my friends dance around in our boxers to it. We are so manly. Then we wrestle. Afterwards we have lemon smoothies. We are not gay though. Oh we bake pies for our mothers as well

  • well put bro... i cant tell you how many times ive done it...especially to this record...

  • "still good even though it's from 1994...or whatever."

yes, it was 1994 and yes it's still good.

  • man, 1994 was one of the best years of my life

  • long to taste the shame....fuck it throw youre self away

  • U iz fit bbz, wana meet up, I want some of tht wagon your draggin. Holla bak.

  • Love this song - I always thought it was about knowing your potential but not realising it because you gave into temptation...?

  • i read somewhere the song refers to young groupies who offered themselves to a married cornel on tour and he had to battle temptation and the subsequent shame of infidelity

  • Don't worry about the video being pictures of you--it's actually the most unique thing I've seen on here in some time!

It would be kinda boring if it was just the Superunknown album cover for 4 minutes; don't get me wrong, it's a cool picture. I just like variety.

EXCELLENT song, too; one of my favorites. If I could play an instrument, I'd form a band and we'd cover it! Speaking of, has any band covered a Soundgarden song *on an album* since SG broke up?

  • Does anybody know bands that are as original as they where? Recommended listening so to speak...

  • no bro, they don`t quite make em like this anymore,in this style no one really quite did it or does like SG..

  • The only band that beats SG is temple of the dog, which is Sg and Pearl jam so still.

  • dead meadow

  • Damn theres this band that sounds just like Soundgarden...well not sound just his vocals are liike Corneils....theyre called Operator...check em out theyre gud...

  • actually i think operator might be the band chris's brother's in. I'm not 100 percent sure. I do know though that his brother's in a band and has a similar sounding voice

  • No but da rating says that if the remaindaer of Soundgarden would get back together that johnny strong would be the only one fitted in Cornells place...oh yeah Johnny Strong is the Singer for Operator

  • Deep and moving like the sea.

  • Soundgarden= one of the greatest band from the 90's.

  • Awesome man! Great song! I agree man Bad Motorfinger has good ones but then you get to superuknown is fucking heaven. Down on the upside is just about the same! YES

  • Uhm... I don't know if you're completely right about the song's meaning... I think its more about how Cornell's dad was shit. Shame, shame, throw yourself away. Parent telling a kid to get out and that their worthless... I mean that could be one interpretation (I read he had a shitty dad... I don't have a source, so don't quote me on that being completely true..). Point is - not every song by grunge bands is about drugs.

  • Yea i agree there should be open views besides drugs, but...lol.

'If it sits upon your tongue

    Or naked in your eyes

    Give me little bits of

More than I can try' screams drugs to me

  • eh, i suppose it could be a combination of the two... or possibly, he takes the drugs and then thinks the "shame" and "throw yourself away" parts afterwards for doing something that he knows that he shouldn't do. so yeah, now that i'm looking at it on a different day, i can see that...

  • You know what? The song rocks hardcore! hahah we stoners look too deep into stuff ill say!

  • For me this is the best soungarden`s album by far . I´m 32 and proud to belong to the last generation who had real music and when buy a cd was an important and inspiring , where is the music now ?

  • Yea. I remember looking through all Soundgarden's music, and thinking "Badmotorfinger has some damn good songs in it" and then looking at Superunknown and realising there isn't a single bad song on there.

  • rock died in 97"-98"

  • yes it did..when soundgarden anounced the world they broke up! Best rock band ever! best rock album- superunknown. since 94 i hear almost every single day! what if they still exist?

    carlos

    portugal

  • Nothing gold can stay. Robert Frost

  • Every other decades theory. 70's were awesome, 90's were as well. 00's suck, but here's hoping the 10's inspire some great material.

  • Well... there is some good stuff out there right now, you just have to dig for it. A few good bands as of recent are Killswitch Engage and Karnivool (interesting sound).

  • You sir, are so damn right I can not fault any of that comment. Music has really gone down the drain. We're lucky we still have absolute gems like Soundgarden.

  • @godzuki444 I love their other albums, too...but Superunknown has always been my favorite album. We are very lucky to remember those times.

  • I can't imagine living out in Seattle during the early 90s and seeing Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam on the same bill in some shitty ass bar/club. It must've been fucking RUTHLESS!

  • best song from soundgarden i miss those times

  • superunknown is an epic cd. one of the best rock cds ive ever heard.

  • My favourite Soundgarden song - thanks for posting!

  • That's such a great song! I'm gettin' that album! Grunge rock was so good! It's a shame it's pretty much gone now.

  • Damn, what a Fantastic Song!I had this recording on cassette,Ha,Ha!Thanks for the Memories, and the upload!!!!

  • Soundgarden was just one of those classic bands from the 90's that never seemed to have a bad song...everything they did was great, Superunknown was without any doubt one of the best albums ever. Cornell is a writing genious...Soundgarden, Audioslave, his own stuff. Just brilliant... ;)

  • This song is so badass. Really that's all I can say about it, it's quite simple.

  • superunknown was the best album ever i could listen to it all day

  • What's goin on? Why is there only 2 vids for this song? Youtube probably deleted them...Why delete good songs like these and keep emo vids like chemical romance and panic at the disco?

  • Yea exactly, it's ridiculous. I'm glad there's still people who love this sort of music. I see you like Velvet Revolver. They rock too.

  • Exactly.

Bunch of copywright freaks...it seems that everything good is deleted because of this bullshit reason.

  • awesome song great band ..

  • if thats true that is awesome...b/c i am a big fan of this song and some good fresh tendrils

  • matt wrote this as an instrumental, and chris and the band loved it.

at the time of the 'demo' (matt's version) he asked me if i had any weed. I said yes, i had gotten some fresh tendrils that morning... after recording his version, I asked him for the title for the track sheet... "Fresh Tendrils", he said. the name obviously stuck, though Chris' lyrics make no mention of it. =)

  • Wow! :O I did wonder why that was the name. So I'm guessing the song IS about drugs then.

  • naw.

  • awesome

  • This takes me back. I really miss Soundgarden!

  • I'm pretty damn sure that this song isn't about drug usage.

  • Well you're pretty damn wrong then. :|

  • He isn't. Look up the meaning.

  • There isn't an official, documented meaning to this song, however there's a LOT that heavily suggests drugs.

  • I've heard a few interpretations of this song. One is that it's about the temptation of infidelity that a combination of frequent separation from your wife and the abundance of groupies everywhere poses. Another is that it's about the temptation of substance abuse when you're trying to quit or cut back. Regardless, the song seems to be about temptation in one form or another.

  • Keep in mind that it was a writing collaboration between Chris and Matt and could therefore have more meanings than one. Another possibility is that the music was written first, and then various phrases or images that the music inspired were written down as the lyrics, which Chris stated on more than one occasion that he liked to do.

  • lmao I can't stop laughing when I watch this. It's really odd but I had to put pictures or it woulden't upload so I just put some pics of my holiday a couple of years ago xD

  • Thanks for this one.

  • 1994

  • I'm glad someone uploaded this song. Was wanting to hear it.>
