this game is awesome i beat in 4 days too easy the hardest part of this game is prob fighting that girl before the final boss i forgot her name but she was in this place up in the sky. its easy when you're playing it on the console itself but when you play it in the Emulator its so hard because your keyboard needs to be good and i hate playing games on the computer anyway just not use to it but computer is the only way i can play this game and other FF games especially FF6 cus FF6 is the boss

I always liked how, for this single pre-battle exchange only, you couldn't rush through the text. The game is specifically scripted to finish talking and start the battle right as Magus's Theme starts up.

Makes for such an epic battle!

@LionheartOC Melee him with frog once. Then strike him with another normal melee attack. he'll put up a barrier. He can only be damaged with that type of magic. if you don't have that type of magic hit, hit him in melee again. heal when you need to. post 50% health he'll just start casting dark matter. make sure your topped up on health and burn him. heal to full after he dark matters. proceed to win.

this boss fight was great. i enjoyed it everytime i got to this part of the game. i even use magus everytime i fight the queen at the end of the black omen just for his theme to be used in the fight :) this fight seems real easy at around lvls in the high 20s to early 30s. which around that time chrono should have life and frog with leap slash.

actually the masamune is supposed to be used to drain his MP.....but hey you did what you wanted, actually very long for something so short.....whatever your reasons, it should have never taken this long. But I do like the music,. and possibly the best RPG ever made, actually kind of revolutionalized the RPG world along with Secret of Mana

i am currently replaying chrono trigger on the ds and i´ve died one time! one time! that damn slash! after that i changed a character in my team and managed to beat him. i forgot to go with frog to the end of time but i had marle as healer so i managed to beat magus, i was lucky he never changed his element, always water! my team was Crono, Marle and Frog.

Damn, now I know why he was so difficult ! I totally forgot to bring out frog to that end of time place to teach him magic. Now I think i'm pretty doomed. I hope it's possible to backtrack, cause I'm in a urgent need of mid tonics as well.

@payasitotibia My advice: Use the same party, just grind until your characters have the x-2 spells (Lightning2,Fire2,Water2),the grinding will help your MDef and HP stats,and having the x-2 spells will give you access to a Shadow elemental attack (DeltaStorm). Or you could go with a party of Crono,Frog,Robo,and just pelt him with Lightning,Water,and Robo's Laser attack (can't remember name at the moment) until he drops his defense. Then use 3D attack. Win.

Magus was summoning lavos to destroy him. Chrono and the gang make the mistake of interfering with his affairs and the cost was dire. So yes, Magus was a good guy in all of this. However it was Chrono and the gang that mistook him for Lavos' creator.

I like to attack with Crono and Lucca and have Frog spam Heal every round until Magus Risks Casting A Spell. :P

This is where the NES pirated port of Chrono Trigger (made by Shenzhen Nanjing Technology, Chinese company) ends. Seriously. And its two forms are well... almost impossible to beat. Or... well, let me say: IMPOSSIBLE. I couldn't do it. Marle dies from one dark spell. Frog dies from one dark spell. Once I got to the second form with Crono only alive, I died in one hit. The pirated crap doesn't wait for your commands like in this original... it sucks!

I had a pretty good method to fighting Magus (this was when I was 10, for christs sake!) I would stick around the beginning parts of the palace, I went back and forth through Slash's area and Flea's area (where the monsters) and continued to not only get Mid Ethers from wizard guys, but the constant Tech Points needed to gain other Techinques helped. So when I went up to Magus, I was pimpin' Luminaire. I shit you not. And I used Marle, since she was a better choice. Try it sometime guys!

Correct, Magus has 6666 hp at all times. He's harder the first time cuz that's how it's suppose to be storyline wise simply cuz he has never been challanged to use much magic prior to this battle (he basically owned Cyrus and turned Glenn into a frog, neither battles exerted much power or challange for him).

Your fighting the weakest Magus in the game the second time, after the Masamune has destroyed his barriers and Lavos his pride. Right here your fighting a prime Magus.

Magus has 6666 health at all times. Also, with the rematch (If you're dumb enough to deny such a powerful character) if you don't have Glenn/Frog in your party, then it is all three, minus Chrono. Just a little tid bit of info.
