I'm Viet and have been to VN so let me tell you how it works. Everyone drives extra slow on the motorbikes at intersections, they maneuver very fast, there are NO elderly people driving (older people ACCEPT the fact that they can be a danger so they hop on the backseat). If there is an accident, it is usually very minor because people drive pretty slow and are not as reckless. If you're a pedestrian and want to cross, just walk out and keep walking...drivers will go around you.
