Ive been a cowgirl and have been in rodeos all my life... and Im in no way violent :-/ .... my horses and steers are in better health and physical condition than any horse that has lived its entire life on the pasture with no excercise or proper diet and medical care.... what do you say to that? ..... just saying that some statements are exagerated.
This might be true but how many ranchers breed bucking bulls for PBR...there is good money in it and like I said before they don't want harm to come to their livestock becuase they are worth too much money to them to be put down. Everytime their bull goes out into the arena they are making money its the same when a Racehorse wins his first race; the owner makes money and he doesn't want his horse to go down on the track. American Rodeo is ranch work in a compition setting. Calf roping and team roping are done on ranches every day(none are injured/killed). Bronc riding was how horses were broke/trained to ride before Natural Horsmenship came into play. Bull riding, barrel racing were made up along the way. Im not sure about stear triping, I'v never seen it done before; rodeo or ranch setting. Your right now its bout money but it wasn't always this way. Which brings me back to Accidents vs Abuse

This tradition shouldn't be carried on for entertainment purposes. This is the same for rodeos. If someone wants to rope a cow, they should go to Montana and work a cattle ranch. It would be more productive than showing a ribbon or trophy to say, "Hey, I can rope a cow in 13 seconds."

How do you go about training a horse without discipline then? At some point in time the horse would realize "Oh, they won't fight back. I'll just throw them off and I'm free until the next time!"
@BiscyBabe17 An English trainer and a Western trainer were once asked to make a program together: each was given a fresh, green, young, wild american horse and told to train them. The American tied heavy tires to his horse, wore it down, beat it etc and successfully rode it, but could never again afterwards. His pride wouldn't let him release it. The European trainer used the old methods, gaining its trust, getting it used to people, etc and the horse let him ride. He still released it though

This is the abuse of horses that takes place in Mexican rodeos, and Mexican style rodeos here in the US. While this has been banned in many states, and the US charro association has banned it in every US state, it still happens around the country. As well as openly in Mexico. Many Mexicans are against this, as many Americans are against American rodeo abuse.

While this is horrible, I am confused as to what you mean by "obviously suffered a mouth injury." As an pre-vet equine sciences student, what I see is the horse chewing - which is a natural behavior often indicating submission or thinking over what just happened. Yes, I see a scared abused animal, but one currently uninjured just simply looking for a way out - whether through the exit gate or by submitting to what the horse sees as the "dominating" figures in the arena

I can also look at this video, and agree that this horse does not have a "mouth injury." This is called "gumming", which is a submissive behavior. @KetuGaryx When Calif. banned it in '94, the major charro assoc. in the US decided to ban it in all their events across the country. That does not mean smaller associations and events put on by individuals had to honor that ban and they didn't and still don't. There was a recent tripping event caught on film in Nevada and it reopened talks in the NV legislator to get rid of any loopholes that are allowing it to continue.

Some of these rodeo games make me sick. I've participated in one were I live, and it was really not horrid. But I think I'll just stick to my barrel jackpots. I had the mind to tell them off (at the rodeo) but it feels there's not much a 13 year old can do

Also: while you do have a right to make moral judgments about a subculture (read: rodeos), reserve the vitriol for the practice, not the people. It won't convince anyone to stop. Shouldn't that be any activist's ultimate goal? To have people understand and truly feel that what was done is wrong, rather desist only because of legal repercussions? @BiscyBabe17 An English trainer and a Western trainer were once asked to make a program together: each was given a fresh, green, young, wild american horse and told to train them. The American tied heavy tires to his horse, wore it down, beat it etc and successfully rode it, but could never again afterwards. His pride wouldn't let him release it. The European trainer used the old methods, gaining its trust, getting it used to people, etc and the horse let him ride. He still released it though

This is the abuse of horses that takes place in Mexican rodeos, and Mexican style rodeos here in the US. While this has been banned in many states, and the US charro association has banned it in every US state, it still happens around the country. As well as openly in Mexico. Many Mexicans are against this, as many Americans are against American rodeo abuse.

While this is horrible, I am confused as to what you mean by "obviously suffered a mouth injury." As an pre-vet equine sciences student, what I see is the horse chewing - which is a natural behavior often indicating submission or thinking over what just happened. Yes, I see a scared abused animal, but one currently uninjured just simply looking for a way out - whether through the exit gate or by submitting to what the horse sees as the "dominating" figures in the arena

I can also look at this video, and agree that this horse does not have a "mouth injury." This is called "gumming", which is a submissive behavior. Don't read this in a mean tone, but @FredTheCloud is right. :)

That does not mean smaller associations and events put on by individuals had to honor that ban and they didn't and still don't. There was a recent tripping event caught on film in Nevada and it reopened talks in the NV legislator to get rid of any loopholes that are allowing it to continue.

I dont agree with tripping horses but the tittle makes everyone assume its in mexico and that ALL Mexican rodeos have this event .People who belive this are really ignorant because each part of mexico has different tradicions, foods, and even different languages. Its like somone wacthing the Omak Stampede Suicide race and then Generalizing it tht every rodeo in the country does this type of event.

Not All Mexican are cruel to Animals, We Own 4 horses and are in tip top condition. Please do not stereo type and think that all Mexican treat there animals like this. There are many of us that take care of our horses, with proper vet care, and love. Because of people like this that have made this choice, me and family have been subject to racist, and cruel remarks. Not all Mexican are like this. Most of us have a heart
