I lived there from 1987-1988 and went here a couple of times. At the time, I was a typical long-haired musician that had moved from Texas to stay with my sister out there. It was like a different world. Most of the people were really nice and although I am not now, nor ever have been LDS, I was in awe of this area. It is breathtaking. It's great to be able to see it here, although, you HAVE to see it in person to get the feeling! Thanks for posting!
Love the Chritius Statue. Went to Salt Lake this spring and got the tour of temple square from two overly excited sister missionaries. Still, it was a great trip.
but it is a symbol of christ, not an idol, because it wasnt created from like someones imagination or anything, i guess i just have a different oppinion.
many people are yet to learn of him - the statue is a reminder of Him in a world that needs more of His guidance in their lives. A statue of the Saviour is appropriate. I have a picture of the Saviour in my house I worship God not the painting,- which is peaceful. I don't worship the canvas or Paint. Anything brought to mind through the senses is an image I would rather have one that represents the object of our true devotion. It is a reminder & a testament.
It is true that they have a far larger leap of faith than most. But all religions have a leap of faith. I choose not to believe but am a bit jealous that some have excellent lives with wives that obey them.
It's the Christ us statue by Bertel Thorvladsen, the Original is in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Church of Our Lady. The one on Temple Square in Salt Lake City is in the visitors center. Not the Creation room in the temple.
This in just a room in the visitors center. It is beautiful but not really some big Mormon sceret place or where we tell lies like some people have said here.
His worlds are without number, wouldn't it mae sense that Heaven is on a planet somewhere. Some people just believe its in the clouds. That seems so silly. If our Father made this world that means he has many others. I think thats wondeful.
That was one of my favorite places i have ever just sat down, just to think. i coulda stayed there (and temple square) forever and never got bored. I love the temple.
I think this is my favorite spot on Temple Square. I go down atleast 3 times a year. What was really amazing was watching my cousin from Norway walk into that room and just break down into tears. He had waited his entire life to see it and he finally got to. The next day he left for the MTC. It was so amazing. I love this Gospel and this Church!
