... yes, I know. we understand that (I'm not dis-agreeing with u at all. visualizations are vital. and about visuals in relation to math, I knew that already back then, thanx to the FL formula controller plug-in back then in FL4. still using it even till now.) - and about visualizations, we've got FL limiter, and even more professional, Maximus. they help us to monitor our mastering and the main mix. All I'm saying is, you should put more effort in more sound libraries, plug-ins, and effects...
... a good example is the new Youscope. IT IS TOALLY COOL, looks great! - but how about making another sytrus? or make FL studio support RTAS, or be hosted as RTAS (instead of just VSTi//DXXi only) ... u c, they r so many audio-related issues to improve in FL, b4 diving into visuals & other cool looking stuff which only just spicens up the *.flp file. - u should know that the average listener wont bother about that. FL chan wont come out on an exported mp3 file. do u get my point? - my advice?
... yeah, all this is pretty cool and all, but gol, (or if u r not gol, then u should tell Didier that...) there is a VERY STIFF competition on DAW software to go for. we've got FL, Reason, Cubase/Nuendo, Sonar, Protools, Logic, and so on. and I've had a fair chance of messing around abit with them, and they are pretty impressive. what you should try to do right now, is focus on the sound quality rather than visualizations. for example, FL chan plug in, it's cool and all, but it's just for...
... its just for messin around (it wont improve the mix or anythin of that sort.) - & in order2 see it, the other person must hav FL as well. all Im sayin is, for FL9 (which if I had time, I'd have made the "NewStuff.flp" for it) u should concentrate for coding more plug ins like maximus, or sawer, etc. another thing u could do is OSX 10.5 support & enhance multi-core support. 1good thing u did though is Vista 64bit support. did u know protools8 doesnt yet support Vista X64? so u well beat Digi!
... u c, that's the point. u dont get me. I UNDERSTAND that visuals are vital; & I am not mandating anyone; coz I'm an Engineer, not programmer. & I know how tough codding can be (been there); & I respect its complexity. & yes; it can be used 4live; but what I am saying is; that shouldnt be the main priority. remember that FL is a digital "AUDIO" workstation; the main issue here is SOUND. so the effort should be emphasized more on Audio rather than visuals. Audio=Priority1. dont u agree Whiligo?
Yes I do see what you are saying. and I agree that there are features of FL that I would like implemented. But despite this fact, we are in no position to tell the lead developer what to do. I feel like he does an excellent job, and I'm going to make sure that I don't act like he is doing a crappy job just because he does something to enhance the FL Studio environment that is not strictly for performance.
yes; Whiligo; i didn't say in anyway that that. Didier and the FL beta team (and all the other coders) are doing a crappy job. I never said of meant to say that at any instant. as a matter of fact; I still think that FL has the best GUI than ANY other DAW i've ever seen my entire life! I mean; it is so cool looking and user friendly... some apps graphics like the current version of reason (4); etc is no where near to what FL was 6 years ago (FL3) - FL is simply the best "LOOKING" DAW out there.
... can you see my point? FL studio, a DAW is the best "looking" DAW out there. yes; that is a success; but not the one it should be. it's like being on the right track, but on thee wrong train... and about "not being in the position to tell them..." I don't think that's right. because I am a FL user, and my opinion counts. so as a good team, Image Line should listen to my opinion/views as well. it is peoples views which are the key to a successful business (in this case; the FL DAW)) ... ayt??
Gol, is that a single Wave Candy making this?

But if a host has a "sound", then it's broken. In fact, Wave Candy is a nice tool to learn/see that mixing waveforms is simple math.

You have to consider also the applications for live use. visualizations are usefull.
Also, who are you to mandate programming priorities? Sometimes presentation is important too.

looks nice. but does it help to analyze the material ? i wasn't able to recognize some phase relations or whatever ...
rephlex 2 years ago
It's only for fun. It's as useful as a vectorscope can be.
anothergol 2 years ago
I thought that vectorscopes could be used to analyse mid-side Left Right type of stuff. Stereo Width?
whiligo 2 years ago
Exactly. But that's not so much useful these days.
