  • Wow ! I use to have the Cassette to this Amazing Band. I remember I would Admire Morris Day he looked so Regal with the Castle in the Background. The 80's were last Decade for Real Music.

  • Morris Day was in a class by himself! Love that Cat for real! Nailing White Girlz! Wild Man!

"Don't Wait For Me" was some real Playalistic Sh@t for the ladies to peel their head back and be like WTF??? He got me but i still gotta go... Lol yo dig?

  • 1 of the best songs ever

  • jesse johnson was the only original cat that was rockin "PINK" and made it look cool

  • Fucking EPIC. 'The Time' needs their own 'Vevo' channel. Wait...They're too talented for that bullcrap. Great music like this makes me want to murder artist like 'Drake', 'Akon', 'Soulja Boy', 'Lil' Wayne', etc.. Fuck...Where is Morris Day when you need him? Jeez....

  • @anonymousent Never fear...

Some of us are still playing instruments...

    And when the electricity fails...

we will be The Saints Marching in with da Funk!

  • @JaiCourvoisier Damn right buddy I'm with you. This type of music used to be the shit back in the 1980's . I grew up listening to these guys.

  • @JaiCourvoisier Don't hate the player, hate the game. Those guys suck! True that, but it's the people that make that scrub music popular.

  • I always liked this song.

  • NASTY FUNK !!!!!!!!

  • @anonymousent "Havent heard this song n yrs! Ty so much 4 posting it. Keep em comin."

  • @RwBguardian More tracks from THE TIME & Morris Day loaded on my page ...... PEACE ....

  • Just imagine if Jimmy Jam Terry Lewis and Monte was part of this project...

  • I remember being a child and wanting my parents to play this over n over!! This was the jam!

  • got to thinking about this song so I looked it up here on you tube to listen to it. Takes me back to when i was a kid. loved this song. My 3 yr old son listened to it with me and he likes it now. That was about 2 weeks ago and he just asked me tonight to listen to it again. lol

  • @brycooper wow ....... now that is cute ........ at least your son has good taste at such a young age ........

or is it just the wind up toy bells & them mentioning ice cream .... either way - it's nice .......

  • hmm jesse's rythm..rogers rythm...,prince's rythm...tony maiden,...lead rythm guitarist's....hendrix started it with stuff he borowed from the heavy blues and jazz cats..Great players and most importantly they were cool!

  • I loved this song when I was little

  • this was truly the years that the real players and princely musicians was on the seen, the time that dreams can true

  • instrumentations.......flawless. this shit rocked then, and it rocks now !

  • for the record I fucking love this track and am sure to blast it many a time during the summer. sure, they don't make em like this anymore, but they didn't make em then like they do now...thats part of the game.

  • This was the shit back in the 80's. I had this tape and played the HELL out of it.

  • @Twigra I had this on vinyl (well, I had all of 'em on vinyl :)) and wore it and the rest of them out. Early-mid 80s. Wore. Them. OUT, I tell you. Some of the best there is.

  • @Twigra Fond memories of the Cassette tape days

  • @Twigra Me too. I wore this out on Vinyl. I used to work at Wherehouse records in 1984 and got the album on the first day it came out. Great, great memories, especially with all the European girls I was dating back then over the summer of 1985.

  • @Twigra Yeesssss!!! I used 2 have one of them yellow Sony walkmans with "auto-reverse" and Mega Bass...played this tape until the damm thing broke...Chili sauce!!!

  • The point of Prince, The Time and The Family was to break all the barriers. To bring everyone together into a union. In the words of Prince, "Black, White, Puerto Rican...everybody just a freakin'". I haven't heard anything like that in 25 years. I do admit, though, that I'm 40 and writing from nostalgia. If you have something better to offer, please, point me in the right direction.

  • it's a testament to just how chock full of fucking morons the internet is that people gave you the "thumbs down" for this comment. you're the only one with a valid point beyond "i uh like this song a lots" and "i don't like this song none!"

  • it was wrong of me to say 'you're all stupid' i was referring to all the people on this page goin "music today sucks, man the 80's were the best, there's no talent" Thats garbage. even prince doesn't make music like this anymore, it had its time and place... but he still makes awesome records. If pple still did this evry1 would b all 'ahhh, music is fcking boring n been the same for the last 20 years' Thats what recording is 4. U have to Look for the good new, but its @.

  • I agree. But this wasnt just music. This was a movement. Soo much played a part in this the fact that this was midwest music so it was diff from the la ny scene the interracial thing as far the band fans and most importantly they (prince morris flyte time etc) where young kids playin funk covers In the 80's w/tech. bands where stripped down prince figured out how to merge drums machines which where new at the time w/ live bass guitar an keys drums. saved the genre.

  • i agree with alot of u.being a teen back in the 80's was the greatest thing next to sliced bread.man it was about dancing your ass off, breakdancing, and chasing the girls and vice versus. the great slow jams by the time,"GIRL","DON"T WAIT FOR ME",GIGALO"S GET LONELY TO" can't be duplicated by any 1. we had the greatest music ever. now these fucking thugs today talk about their dick,my bitch,my bling,my ride,my posse, the strip club it's repetitive stupid, senseless shit without any taste.

  • @str8outtatexas1 DUDE Sexy Bitch is so thoughtful and heartfelt lol...i couldnt even say that with a straight face haha. i agree with you on every point

  • @str8outtatexas1 80s had SOME gay shit

  • @eggsinsidethetomato , Don't you NEVER say an unkind word about Morris Day and the Time!!!

  • @FYRFOX198: I agree, being a teenager back then was cool. Good music abounded everywhere. And I mean you actually had to have some kind of talent to make a good song.

  • I remember buyin' the tape cassette at the swapmeet with a brand new Walkman. I jumped on the bus headin' to the beach in Redondo. When I put that tape in I was like wtf a music box. Then BAM...!!! Ice Cream Castles in the summer time....!" I jammed that shit all the way down to the beach along with Purple Rain and Bootsy's Body Slam....remember that shit.....?? Being a teenager was fun back then. Today's teenagers think they know shit. They don't know a GOT DAMN THANG....mothafuckas..!!

  • @FYRFOX198 Damn ....I feel ya ! When u try teaching they're dumb asses something they get a funky attitude...some nerve !

  • The entire MN movement was so much more than people give it credit for. Prince, Morris, Jerome, Vanity.....all and one. It meant so much to me when I was a teenager. It still does. I return to it when I begin to doubt what is right and wrong, what should be and what isn't. These people were really pushing the envelope, really trying to get people to come together. A time a truly miss.

  • 80s was the shit anyone who wasnt alive yet are just lost in the sauce of bullshit nowadays with this s--- they call music.

  • @80sKatt thank god for old school radio stations

  • @80sKatt Could not agree more strongly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This musical decade was the absolutely the best, greatest and revered of all time...if you were of a certain age and lived it and even for those who can dig it now.

  • Nothing like the 80's and early 90's miss those days.......

  • 80's music was the SH%& to dance to. Miss it !!!

  • when music was REAL!!!!! idont know what the f@#%K they on 2-day?

  • I liked the song "Girl" by the Time. you could hear the purple one in the background of that track too, but it was all good tho!!

  • bass kicking.....guitar picking......drums sticking and keyboards licking........that's what time it is !

  • oh god this takes me back...somebody please redo this!!

  • What a sick album cover, you don't see album covers like that anymore, and a great tune as well, I was only like two when this album came out, but I can still remember being in the living room with my parents jamming to the tunes on this album in my pamper talking about jungle love oweeohweeoh, lol and chili sauce, lol! Great times, theres always this part of me that wishes I could just go back to those times.

  • i member shit like that 2. chili sauce lol.

  • @hoodedmystryX Yhea, chili sauce that was my favorite part, it was kind of hard to do it on carpet though, but it was still fun, lol.

  • @BlaqueReign25 Wow! I can remember being a teenager back before Prince & Morris made it big; my friends & I used to get bootleg cassette tapes of their music performed and tracks laid down by amateurs but all the music rocked! I truly miss the "Old school" music of these two incredible groups even though Prince wrote and/or participated in the writing of all the music as well as performing. I also remember when Soft & Wet was banned off the radio! Now, more scandalous music is played on the air

  • I bet that was great, I still have the ice cream castles album, as well as the purple rain album and I think I have the 1999 album somewhere, I just don't have a record player to play it on. I miss old school music as well, it was so much more fun then and the music had more substance I remember listening to soft and wet I was only a little kid but my parents let me listen to it anyway, because they knew what good music was The garbage the play on the air now you can't even call some of it music

  • one

  • I want you, you want me, is that so wrong?

We are young, we are free, let's get together -

Let's DO somethin! Let's do somethin SOON!

  • God I love this song, The Time is sick!

  • imma remake this

  • OMG this is the jam The Time up top 4 sure. We r young.........

  • 80s real music .

  • O SNAPS this is my joint., I was a little shorty when I heard this about 5-7 yrs old and fell in love with it. I never forgot this song in all these yrs. I read a couple of post and yea Prince put the group together, Morris already said this. n Jesse and him wrote joints together but so what. Alot of musicans don't write their own songs, look on the back of differnt album covers.

  • u can hear P in the background, like many opf the time's joints..

  • their outfits are pimp

  • yes this was the jam back in the day,sigh... but lets stop hating on the lilpurple control freak, lets not 4get the shit he went through with warner bros. ITS HIS SHIT 2 do what he feels, whether we agree or not!!

  • WHITE GIRLS! ORNAMENTALS! JERMA-KINE! Awesome.

  • Morris Day @ The Time/ The Time -Featuring Morris Day...Thank you all for all the great memories.....WHAT TIME IS IT? SAME TIME IT'S ALWAYS BEEN....NOTHIN' CAN CHANGE THE TIME..OREO-EO!!!!

  • I thought Morris and Jesse wrote "Jungle Love"?

  • Jesse wrote it.

this jam basically got Jesse his solo deal with A & M.

  • This was the shit back in 1986 or when ever it came out ! And its the shit now Im sampling it!

  • 1984

  • Not before me

  • Unpacking in my dorm freshman year, I knew my new roommate and I would get along when she unpacked this album. The Time were FUNKY.

  • lol he singing to a white girl.

  • so what?

  • I love The Time. This one was kinda different for them but it had to grow on me.

I love it now. The Time was a bad ass band.

  • I dig this song now, but I never liked this song back in the day. Kinda like I didn't like When Doves Cry when it first came out. I don't know why. :)

  • i was the same ,but only with that purple f****,but it's cus we going through events in our lives that we now can relate to the jams

  • Well! time for the time! :-) Wonderful song!

  • This was a sweet cut.

    Back in the day...sigh...

  • THE MUTHAFUCKIN' TIME!

  • Bet u can't find My Draws

  • I got it .... but the Purple Prick keepz blockin' it when i load it ...... he's such an azzhole to the fifth power .....

  • could you please find if the kid can't make you come? thank u n advance.

  • Already have that .... even tried to load it & was stopped from the jump ..... You know that PURPLE PRICK got him name all over these tracks & the ones that he's got INKED won't even make it on YouTube for a day .... if i can hide it someway - i'll let u know ..... PEACE ...

  • hell put me on that list if you can...

  • sure thing ........

  • i like this song this the first time i heard this right now a friend brought this to my attention...

  • Refreshing Funk!

  • hell yeah! sounds as good as the first time i heard this.

  • If I started playing again, I'd do a whole show of Mpls 80s funk. Without question. Finally have the gear to do it properly. lol.

    Peace.

  • Funky!!! Got that Bootsy sound...

  • I remember when Jesse came up with this, about the TIME he met his gal, her lisence plate read 'Cutie Pie' lol.

  • are you from minneapolis witchman1?

  • I am.

  • Joey Giaramito, and Chris McD would adore this!!!

  • this group was bad ass back in the day. jimmy jam and terry lewis, jesse johnson, morris day and jarome (with his bad ass drum set). this song takes me back!

  • WOW! WHOA!

  • Since my grandmother's passing I found out that Morris is FAMILY. I can't wait to meet everyone from the Day side.

  • Make sure to learn all their songs, have them take you on tour, sing back up, get some of that tour money and learn to play a musical instrument, get rich, yaahahaha...SHEEYAT, im subscribing to your page buddy!.. hahahaa.

  • "SHEEYAT" LMAO! priceless! I'm stealing that. I normally go "SHieeeeeet."

  • Morris is on drums, Prince is playing everything else

  • No, Prince is not playing. It's the time.

  • listen to the sythn organ solo, those are Prince chops. At the end you can Prince say "That's the one!" before he slides up the keyboard.

  • Prince wants everyone to know he played all the Time's music to make himself look good. His has a big ego. Let's not forget, the Time are real musicians and not Milli Vanilli.

  • No one's saying they're not. And them not writing or performing on the album doesn't make them any LESS of musicians, it only means they weren't THERE. We all know the Time are very talented. The idea that artists are either there for the creation of an album 100% or they're Milli Vanilli is fallacy by false dilemma. Jimmy Jam could be BOTH a great musician and STILL not been there in the studio at the creation of the album. Again, document your claims.

  • Dude, It's mostly Prince. Jesse on Guitar and Morris on drums. Unless you can provide some interview where this is stated, or some form of documentation . . .

Now there were a couple songs that Prince took from Andre Cymone and Matt Fink and labeled it as his own, but for the life of me I can't remember which ones. I wanna say around the Dirty Mind/Controversy album. We all know the shenanigans involving "Kiss", tho'.
