yo do you know how to set up the MPC with logic 9.....I have it synced where logic is the Master but when i try to trigger the midi notes thru the MPC i get no sound.???
Yeah I could see that. I never even cared a whole lot about an MPC, but I got it for dirt cheap, so I figured why not. I heard it works decently with Reason 5, though. You think that's true? (Thanks for the response, by the way.)
Hey thanks for the vid. I still got a question tho: I got a keyboard hooked up with Reason 4 with one of those midi to usb cables. I got a MPC recently and figured that with a second midi-to-usb chord I could just hook up a second controller (and use the MPC to control the Redrum). For some reason tho, Reason isn't recognizing the MPC, even when I go into the preferences dialogue and try doing the "Find' function. Any suggestions? (I set up everything else the way you showed in the vid.)
@RockBeats84 Oh and by the way, I'm trying to run the MPC directly into the computer along side the keyboard, rather than running the keyboard thru the MPC. Is that even possible?
@RockBeats84 u prolly should use midi cables from the mpc to ur interface and that should work. All in all reason and the mpc isnt the best workflow and is the reason y i no longer use it
Hey peeps i got my mpc working with reason but i have a question.when i hit the mpc pads the sounds are not in order. For example if i have tractor bass guitar with midi input to mpc it gives me diffrent notes.notes arent in order like a keyboard.if their is a setting i need to make please let me know cause im so fustrated trying to figure this thing out. Thanks in advance
@djdeluxe101 download BLUBOX its a free software that lets you create akai programs for the mpc. there is an option to chromatic tune pads. click that, put the program on the mp, load it as a midi program and BAM
when u have the midi going out from the midi keyboard port. which port and how many midi cords do u have going in or out of the mpc ports? do u have midi cords going out from mpc ports and to what or do u just have midi out keyboard in to midi in mpc port?

props for this man! big help... what i want to know is if you un-hooked your midi from reason... would you have a recorded version of the sound 'in this case the brass' in the mpc or will it just not play?
yo, what,s good , Im worrking with the mpc 2000xl in I have a midi controller with no usb,but I hooked it up like this.I went midi out from the keyboard into the mpc ,out from the mpc in to the mbox, In it's working but when after I record it I get like a half sec dely in the very begining of the midi track. do u kn what that could be? @daddijonez Hey great video. I have a question. I got my mpc 1000 and a midi keyboard. If i hook it up just like you, can i still play my samples on my mpc? Cause i always see people bangin there samples and add reason instruments but i never found the way to incorporate the both( mpc and reason 4). Thx man
a yo good lookin onthis video bruh! I have been trying to figure this one out for a bit. I got an mpc5000 with the new hp touchsmart300 pc. I just got reason but I've been trying to figure out what i need to connect them and how. this helps but is the m-audio doing u any justice? i was thinkin about swoopin up a Saffire 6 usb interface. let me know what u think
Our band at the moment uses an mpc 500 sequencing a microkorg, but now i want to use all the sounds from reason into a speaker,i was wondering if any one knew how to hook the metronome of the mpc with the tempo of the reson file? - so our drummer can play in time
yea i connected eberything the way u said but my mpc is not recording the midi notes. can u get a bit more indepth on the setup or maybe explain to me what im doing wrong? i have the midi out on my m-audio controller going into my mpc midi in "1". Then im taking the midi out of the mpc midi out "b" into my projectmix i/o which is my interface then out of that into my mpc midi in "2".
i have an MPC5K and I edit and sequence all my drums in the MP, how would i bouce the internal mpc drums along with the Reason sounds to Pro Tools? Also, how do you have your audio cabels set up?
@duranward dude u have the setup that i'm dreaming of right now. I HATE U LOL!!! real talk tho do u use the 1000 for drums and sampling and then layer it with sounds from reason like i'm hoping u can do?
@1BlaK99 yeah i make everything on the mpc. i got reason just to record basslines but i cant figure out how to record it into my mpc. so ive just been gettin better at using the pads for basslines
@1BlaK99 yeah i make everything on the mpc. i got reason just to record basslines but i cant figure out how to record it into my mpc. so ive just been gettin better at using the pads for basslines
Do this man, chop up a sample with recycle put it in the dr.Rex and on the dr Rex turn the polyphony to 1 and release slider all the way up and there u go an ASR forget the mpc when using reason...the workflow sucks. Let me know how u like it
so what do you do rewire reason into protools???? to get the sounds out of it or does the mp just record the sounds? and then you go into protools with it and record?
yo man really appreciate the video, very helpful, although i couldn't get mine to work...followed all the steps exactly, just i get no sounds! don't think my mp and radium 49 are not talking correctly...i can get the mp sounds on the keyboard like you did in the vid but i cant get the reason sounds out of the mp...any suggestions?
I did it with my MPC500 using the quarter inch inputs into the MPC500 and the output from my sound card. You have to put it in record mode and it will record the sound from reason.
Why dont u just record the part that u made with the mpc first and then take the mpc out and start recording sounds from reason over the sampled part of reason..
well you can and i do but if u wanna keep the music flowin and stay inthat mode openin a sequencer and trackin isnt the way to go. so when you know how to use the mpc and reason together it helps!!
Hey wats good? Do i need a driver to use the mpc and reason 4 together? I only got a midi controller keyboard so how can i set it up for reason to record the midi which is playing the mpc sounds??
What up fam, question for you. So if I use Reason as a sound module, I'll be able to use the sounds from Reason on my mpc. But how does it work as far as saving and recording into the MPC? Like how can I record more then sound from reason into the mpc? and then how do I save my sounds in the mpc? you get what im asking?
the best way is to just use the main rewire channel that's bringin in the reason audio in pro-tools and solo each sound you need in the reason mixer and record one track at a time it shouldnt take no longer than about 10 minutes a beat to do it this way because all you are doing is making new audio tracks as needed in pro-tools and soloing the next sound in reason.
I got an mpc 1000 reason 4 got it today and mbox2 i dont have a mixer and i have my midi in 1 giong to midi out of my m audio keyboard then the midi out A going to midi in on mbox 2 i can play sounds in reason through my keyboard and the sounds reocord to the mpc and i have my monitors hoooked to my mbox but i dont hear sounds fromn mpc through my monitors like the click.. when i hit pads its playing reason sounds please help

wassup bro? I have an Mbox2,Mpc2000xl,and a M-audio midi controller.this is my setup-(midi controller out-to mpc in, mpc out-to mbox in. is it necessary to go out of the mbox & into the mpc? one more thing, how do you assign the reason instruments to individual inputs on the interface & how do you get them to play???
looks lke you gotta deal then!!! does the mpc2000xl work pretty decent? you need to get that reason 4 tho' you need them instruments trust me!!! i seen ya video kickin knowledge i feel ya!
i got a uno interface and i hoooked my mpc 2000xl up to it and it wont play in reason. it just keeps adjusting the volume when i hit the pads and not playing the notes
Good video. Can you tell me how your audio outputs and inputs are hooked up? If I am correct the mpc only records the midi data into memory and the audio is being played from the computer. Therefore, to record to Protools, Logic, sonar etc. you need to record the output of the mixer which connects all these devices. Is this correct?
that beat was tight son!!
