The difference is that Obama keeps saying raise taxes - not eliminate loopholes. Raising taxes is what Buffett wants because he loves his loopholes. The GOP has already stated they want to remove most of the loopholes. Obama wants to remove only a few loopholes. Raise taxes then wealthy will pay off congress/senate to pass more loopholes. Sorry Mr Sharpton but I want almost all loopholes removed rather than raise taxes.

@hlmiller2 - Republicans distort 'raising taxes' with ONLY percentages. Closing loopholes is raising taxes no matter how you slice it. Let's not play a word game here. Bottom line is the tax rates have never been lower and the inverse trending of annual inflation. Its common sense and straight forward math. There is no other angle to play here.

If you do NOT get rid of the loopholes the wealthy like Buffett and Soros will pay off their cronies to get more loopholes. When Reagan was President there were less loopholes. Eliminate 90% of the loopholes and you will get higher revenue than by raising taxes. Even if you taxed the wealthy at 100% it would take 20 years to pay off the debt. They got to stop the spending frenzy, even Buffett finally admitted it yesterday but the MSNBC kool-aid shows avoided his statement.
