I HEARD JOHNNY ON AN INTERVIEW SAYING THAT HE REALLY DOESN'T PLAY AS HARD IN THE STUDIO,BUT IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE HE GETS ALL FIRED UP AND JAMS.SOMETIMES HE JUST JAMS IN THE STUDIO.AND JAM HE DOES...
I've noticed that Skynyrd's guitarists def use a lot of Johnny's riffs. SRV sounds the most like him though. Still, JW got a lot of his stuff from others too.
This is a song that Winter was doing in 73actually Elvis was doing it back in the 60's so only JW and HIs band knows how long He was playing it out live on the tours He was doing back in those days . It sure sounds like Freebird type ending .
One of my favorite songs from Johnny, with an incredible solo closing it out.

He's the best there is. I get some Motown-vibes out of this tune. So fucking good.

This song is freebird , we'll the ending is ! Skynrd ripped it off from winter it's as plain as day ! Listen to the outtro ! Ha !

I don't think Lynyrd Skynyrd ripped off JW, they released Freebird in 1973. Raised on Rock was released on JW's 1974 album John Dawson Winter III.

The guitar solo in this song is sick. Starts at 02:43, 2 minutes and 5 seconds long!

that's my favorite studio solo of any johnny winter album

You got that right!
Cheap tequila has a very neat solo as well, but it's too short.
"Stranger" IS very awesome song with lots of solos. No strangers blues but only Stranger from the John Dawson 4th winter 3d.

Johnny himself would love this...
