I have a noobile question. I seem to have real trouble with fingering chords on a guitar due to a wrist injury, or possibly simply holding my wrist incorrectly though I've seen a good tutorial or two on that subject. Is easier to finger chords on the mandolin than on the guitar?
@faithm well to begin with, it depends on the type of injury you had; was it very serious?, that would determine if the problem is caused by the severity of the injury or caused by an incorrect left hand technique or posture. well, as you know the mandolin has a much shorter scale than the guitar, the shorter the scale the more tension there is and the harder it is to be able to fret chords. however, there are various factors to be taken into consideration, the action of the instrument,
@faithm (the action means the distance in height between the strings and the fretboard) id recommend low action, also the gauge of strings you are using ( id recommend light or extra light strings on mandolin and on guitar cause of the injury. also an instrunment with a somewhat thin neck so there is less strain on your left hand. all those factors if taken into consideration would let you play guitar and/or mandolin without much difficulty. daily practice and warm ups would help.
@faithm i hope i answered your question and any other doubts . if you wish i can make a daily warm up for you so it helps you develop your guitar and/or mando skill. and please any other questions dont hesitate in emailing me (email on channel description)
