Hi Tracey, I'm sorry you didn't win despite your beautiful, heart warming video - seems the competition was very tough and I'm sure Nick wishes he could take more than one along. I hope you continue to do what you are doing however and touching the world with you work.
Thanks so much karenzo73! I appreciate your kind words. I was honored to be nominated as a finalist, and I am already thinking about what I will do for next year's application :) Check back then!
Nick, you won't be disappointed if you pick Tracy. I hope her sincerity and passion about this subject gave you goose bumps, like it gave me. Let me tell you first hand that I know Tracy would not only be an excellent candidate for this honor, but she would seize the opportunity and take full advantage of everything the experience has to offer. Good luck, Tracy!
I don't know who Kristof is, but Tracy should win, because after her video is done...it pops up with Jon Lajoie's "Everyday Normal Guy" video. and that is awesome.
Plus everybody else's video's for this contest are lame.
Thanks, NDBackerfest07! There is great potential in leveraging social media and digital technology to enhance journalism, and I hope to have the opportunity to work on this with Kristof. Cheers!
I think that the video was a great presentation of how the user can use multimedia. However, I honestly believe that Kristof is looking for someone more dynamic to present the material he wants covered. To me this just seems like the same method that a CNN reporter would use. I think it looks "Pretty", but thats about all... Theres no substance whatsoever..Just pretty music and pictures. I hope the person who wins is innovative and shocking so that the world can start to understand these issues
Thanks for your feedback. My goal wasn't to create a "pretty" video, but rather to try a different technique to explain why I am passionate about advocacy journalism and this opportunity. If you believe there is not enough "substance" in this video, my accompanying essay will further explain how I hope to educate our generation about these complex issues.
