Cool project, it turned out great! When you took the embroidery hoop apart my first thought was "Aww, baby-sized twin hoops!" (You know you're a hooper when... :))
another really quick alternative is Free-Machine Embroidery with a sewing machine. Most sewing machines have a button that lowers the teeth (the metal surface below the needle that hold the fabric in place when you are sewing) thus allowing you to move the fabric around and 'draw' with your machine instead of just sewing in straight lines. To do this you MUST take off your normal foot on your machine and either use a 'darning' foot/free-machine embroidery foot or use no foot at all! enjoy! Xx
you think this could be done by hand, with lots and lots of concentration??

@Thenettis Yep. I did it all by hand. You can also draw onto a piece of fabric using a fabric pencil or white pencil crayon.

Hey, thats great! I usually REALLY cheat. :-P ...and make a stencil and a paint roller. :-) The embroidery does come out way nicer, though. :-)
