Mayweather might be the best fighter, technically speaking, in the history of boxing. Maybe Jack Dempsey could be considered the best as he developed a whole style of boxing that was later emulated by Iron Mike Tyson.

Hagler was a great fighter who was naturally too big for Manny.Put Manny vs Aaron Pryor instead. I believe that Aaron Pryor would have out gutted Manny and stopped him late.

The fight was for all purposes over when Hearns broke his hand landing a blow to Hagler's head early in this first round. If Hagler can withstand a blow like that, no way he's going to get KO'd by Hearns' useless broken right hand or Hearns' ordinary left punches in later rounds. Hagler simply had one of the strongest chins in middleweight history. And his stamina was second to none. Plus, while not having a magic "KO punch", he was still a heavy hitter with both hands.

@EvadeRR1 Pacquiao has be urine tested by the nevada athletic commission which is a easy test to get by. Stand Mosley, James Toney and many others have gotten by that test when they were on steroids. Victor Conte and even pacquiao's trainer Roach has admitted how easy it is to get past the urine testing and even some forms of blood testing. So basically the best form of testing is random blood testing, someone pacquiao won't do because he is juiced up and doesn't want to lose to mayweather.

Hagler vs Floyd imo would be a brawler vs a counter puncher with lightning hands who makes Hagler constantly miss. If Hagler connects, he might win, but Floyd would dominate/dictate the fight...

Mayweather might be the best fighter, technically speaking, in the history of boxing. First off to everyone who says that Pacquiao would KO Hagler, this is just foolish. Hagler was a true middleweight and in those days the top ten guys could all fight. The fight was for all purposes over when Hearns broke his hand landing a blow to Hagler's head early in this first round. If Hagler can withstand a blow like that, no way he's going to get KO'd by Hearns' useless broken right hand or Hearns' ordinary left punches in later rounds. Hagler simply had one of the strongest chins in middleweight history. And his stamina was second to none. Plus, while not having a magic "KO punch", he was still a heavy hitter with both hands.

@EvadeRR1 Pacquiao has be urine tested by the nevada athletic commission which is a easy test to get by. Stand Mosley, James Toney and many others have gotten by that test when they were on steroids. Victor Conte and even pacquiao's trainer Roach has admitted how easy it is to get past the urine testing and even some forms of blood testing. So basically the best form of testing is random blood testing, someone pacquiao won't do because he is juiced up and doesn't want to lose to mayweather.

@Chunklake I think Mayweather would beat all of Leonard, Hagler and Hearns. IMO Floyd Jnr is a faster, smarter version of Leonard, maybe less combination punching but quicker/stronger straight rights, and he'd definitely school Hagler who was made to look like a fool by Leonard. Mayweather wouldn't brawl like Hearns did here. Pacquiao would struggle against Hearns, but I think he beats Leonard and Hagler due to his quick hands and ridiculous combinations/angles. And yeah, I'm a boxing fan.

This comes not from a boxing fan, but from Leonard himself, who said that in truth, he created the ILLUSION of victory with a few flambouyant flurries during the fight. I saw it when it happened, and I agree with Leonard's assessment. And, while we cannot say for sure who might come out on top in any of the proposed matchups, I believe either Leonard or Hagler would have schooled Mayweather. We'll agree to disagree....

@1961robster Hagler struggled badly because Leonard ran. And they don't come more slippery and elusive than Floyd Mayweather. For sure Floyd hasn't tested himself against any greats, but I think any WW fighting Floyd at 147 struggles because he's just an exceptional pure boxer. Hagler vs Floyd imo would be a brawler vs a counter puncher with lightning hands who makes Hagler constantly miss. If Hagler connects, he might win, but Floyd would dominate/dictate the fight...

@Chunklake watch this fight closely, and instead of Hearns bouncing around not knowing what to do when Hagler lunges forward, imagine Mayweather with his pure boxer stance waiting for Hagler to come forward, hitting him hard with a fast/strong straight right or hook, then immediately tying him up. If Halger gets Floyd on the ropes, Floyd just does his shoulder roll + dodge defense and makes him miss/ties him up. Floyd is an infinitely smarter boxer than Hearns, this is the biggest difference imo
