I think the "No Line On The Horizon" part of the mix could have just been thrown in there, but it is known that The Fly, Ultra Violet, and The Lady With The Spinning Head all originated from one song. Look up Take You Down and you'll hear components of all three of those songs there. It was hypothesized that this song, produced at a random jam session, eventually led to these songs.
that is true. The song is called "Wake Up and Take Me Down" though. In fact U2 has a unreleased album from 1991 that was the basis of Achtung Baby. One song has The Fly solo and one has the main riff from UTEOTW, but the song structures are completely different.
WOW!!!! GREAT!!!!!! NO LINE totally falls into the Achtung Baby SOUND and its awesome to hear somebody blend it in such a beautiful way.........LOVE IT..........I want one for myself!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting I guess. However, I think the background guitar on NLOTH was done on purpose as a homage to their biggest album. I too am a huge fan and NLOTH is their second best album...
For sure, there's quite a few references to Achtung on NLOTH - this riff, the "baby baby baby" in Crazy, the So Cruel intro to MOS as well as the Stay style OH OHs in MOS. :)
...this is nothing...if you wanna hear someone using the same guitar riffs for over 20 years, listen to The Cure's Catalogue: In Between Days-Push-Just Like Heaven-Lovesong-Pictures Of You-A Letter To Elise-High-Friday I'm In Love are the same song.
Besides this as a Fan you know that LWTSH it's the blueprint for 'Ultraviolet(light My way) as it's named 'UVI' on the B-Side of the 'One' single (1992), so those should count as one guitar riff.

Great, my top 4 U2 songs, and No Line. I immediately liked No Line when I first heard it, but on repeated listens its not very strong when compared to these 4. U2 are in steep decline and becoming the new Rolling Stones; known for tours and not albums.
This was cool, but just because they have the same rhythm/tempo doesn't mean that Edge used the same riff in all of them. Although there is a guitar part that was recycled from "The Fly" for "Lady..."
lol, it's all good! I've been a massive fan for 20 years, and the Edge is my hero. As a guitarist though, when I heard No Line (version 2 in particular) I instantly started thinking of Ultra Violet, Spinning Head and the Fly - some of my all-time favs.
The rythhms and tempos were actually all quite different and it took a fair bit of work to get them to match. However all five songs are in exactly the same key, and no pitch correction was needed at any point. All done just for us U2 fans :)
Great video =D
