  • Muy bueno

  • How do prints work when you purchase one?

  • i love greek mythology and ur depiction of medusa

  • wow this is breathtaking

  • I think you should move this muscle to left a little... SSMaker.ru/4153ad6a/

Only my opinion, not a great artist, neither even good,

  • obvious talent, here. There is however something wrong with her arm. Not the proportions (though it seems a tad long) but in the position. But great artwork.

  • @Thesameasiteverwas its just cuz its bent backwards cuz shes reaching backwards

  • Wow, lovely visualisation. I think you make a good point too - she gets portrayed as a terrible monster, when really she's just the victim of a jealous woman with more power than wisdom. ;)

Can I ask what the music is? It's a really beautiful and relaxing piece. Anyway, thanks for putting these videos up, they're really inspiring!

  • WOW YOUR AMAZING CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH? ^^,)

  • WOW!

  • on a mac

  • god bless your handz and your eyes keep it up dude and hope to see more artworks , im artist from kuwait and glad to be one of your fans :D

  • What type of Tablet are you using when you draw? Is it a PC tablet if so what kind? I can't decide between buying a cintiq or a pc, and can't tell what pc tablet to use. Thank you so much.

  • It stuns me everytime I see it ... want to have a print when it's finished.

  • @KatriiKillsYou Thanks you. Prints are available from my website :)

  • @MikeNashArt great :3

  • aw amazing!

  • I love the earthy yellow -- turquoise cross complimentary limited palette you have working in this.(..that was a mouthful) gonna have to try that one out in one of my paintings..

  • @jacklancaster11 I agree. It's one of my new favourites! I've always loved turquoise and the 'olde world' quality of ochre and sage. Must find an excuse to use them more often! :)

  • where is part 5?

  • Thank you for explaining the double window feature, I always thought of this but could never really find it...

I have two questions: How big is your work? (Size in terms of pixels and dpi) and the other question is: Do you always work in RGB or just for personal drawings?

  • Watching this is pretty damn inspiring!

  • Great work! Really amazing...but i couln't help to notice that her left collarbone is attachted to her right neck muscle. Anyway, lovley piece.

  • honestly, comparing this video to the last 3, i have no idea what you did to bump up the accuracy of the face... did you use a reference or something?

  • @fooblet I'd actually recorded footage between video 3 and 4, but it came out partially corrupted and missing the last 40 minutes! It was a fault with the software, which is now fixed by a patch update. So unfortunately that's why there is a big jump between the two. I always use a reference when drawing. I wasn't happy with the face, so I decided to find a new reference, better suited for the look I was aiming for. Apart from that, hours of painting is what happened to create this result. :)

  • Can i use Painter X to produce a masterpiece such as this? I just bought Painter X but I think i should have gone with Photoshop...shucks

  • @chidragon60 If you learn to wield the tools properly, there's no reason why you can't produce similar results in Photoshop, Painter or Art Rage etc.

  • I love the colors in the skin. This is beautiful. Great job! :)

  • @xXsuperXsamXx Thank you, I'm glad you like it :)

  • music. wat it called? :3 love it :D

  • @hichirosama 'Kilimanjaro' by Medwyn Goodall :)

  • COME ON FINISH IT!!!

  • @vangel4e This piece has been finished for about a year, you can see it on my website.

  • What version of photoshop do you use? I downloaded a trial of CS5 and I FEEL SO OVERWHELMED. It doesn';t let you undo if you hit ctrl z twice, it just does the stroke again.. Augh. :I I'm such newbie.

  • @MachoToxicity I use CS4, simply because I prefer the interface. Hold Ctrl, Alt and Z to undo more than twice. :)

  • @MikeNashArt Thanks so much! It's awesome that you actually reply. :) I love your art by the way, your style is something I've always wanted to achieve. Hopefully I'll get the hang of Photoshop soon, haha. I feel like I should just buy it, and not feel so rushed to learn.

  • What do you use to draw? Cintiq? Bamboo? Please tell me, I just have to know.

  • @minibot7 I use a Cintiq21ux, before that I used an Intuos. Both are very good.

  • How big was the canvas size in pixels? because i see that you're zoomed in but it's not that pixelated?

  • @mrmoon500 The final picture was 18300 x 7500 pixels, 300DPI. This was a particularly big painting though. I try to avoid using a canvas larger than 1.5 metres on it's longest size. Always paint at no less than 300DPI to avoid too much pixelation.

  • @MikeNashArt so that means you had 600 ppi in photoshop?

  • @mrmoon500 If you want the exact numbers. The final painting is 155 cm x 63 cm at 300 DPI/PPI. Making it 18331 pixels x 7529 pixels. :)

  • this is just....SO TALENTED.

  • @EmoJesterJuliana Thanks very much :)

  • And WTF, you just have 2 layers? :D

  • @KatriiKillsYou Yes, I like to try and paint as traditionally as possible and keep my method simple. Photoshop has many gadgets and gimmicks that can often lead you astray. It's not necessary to use everything Photoshop offers. :)

  • Very beautiful. I like the colours :)

Medusa is a very interessting character.

  • for krom! or whoever gods you pray...this is epic! im doing my best to be able to paint like you... but its pretty hard when you have only videos or books to learn, no art schools. but hey... i find your videos inspiring... and for that i truly thank you

  • how long do you take on these pieces ....... ???? i read in your website that you have an eye for detail :D so how long do you take for one art piece :P ... roughly ??

  • @jeffersonkid3 Each video is roughly the equivalent of 3 hours of painting. A big painting usually takes a month to finish, but I don't work on it all the time. :)

  • woooow 3 hours ... :O... i mean its soo detailed and it takes only 3 hours...woow ... but you have to train yourself to work in that speed to finish projects i guess yea.. :P ... :)

  • @jeffersonkid3 The changes made in this video took 3 hours yes. But there are 3 more videos before this one, so it took 12 hours, from scratch, to get the painting to look like it does by the end of this video. Yes, lots of training and practice, but I'm sure there are faster artists out there! :)

  • ...And would I be able to use these techniques with Corel?

  • @Scyko7 Usually I only use the basic tools within Photoshop. The paintbrush, eraser and only one or two layers. All these things can be found in most digital paint programs, including Corel Painter.

  • Will your book come with a DVD?

  • Impresionante.

  • I WILL be this good someday...

  • I like how you did a different modern representation of medusa, probably more in line with the original mythology. kudos and it looks awesome.

  • mr nash, i am speechless....

  • FUKC dude, that is SO good

  • Dude...this is fricken stunning!

  • great work with the colors

  • Thanks for sharing these videos. I love the changes to the face but I wish I could have seen how you did it between parts 3 and 4.

  • good tutorial.but you need to teach us how to do it step by step..big up

  • @kinggooey82 Please bare in mind that I create these videos for free, in my spare time between work commitments. They are very time consuming to produce and edit, and so I am unable to go into greater depth at the moment. However I am currently working on an art book, which will feature basic step by step tutorials that will hopefully contain all the info you seek; in greater clarity than I can offer here. That said, I hope you find my current videos somewhat beneficial.

  • @MikeNashArt OMG would you do that...the art book tutorial? WOW...I don't know what means you plan on using to make it...but whatever it is I would buy it for sure. I've always wanted to make art just like this but I was never sure of where to even start. A serious tutorial book with lots of detail would be excatly what I'm looking for. Please update us if/when you release it. ^_^

  • @kinggooey82 HA

You should be thankful he did this video already

    showing whole SCREEN and

with the process not HYPER SPEED like all other videos

This one is one of the best and most easy understanding videos i've ever seen here (specially here on youtube)

Thank you Mike, you were of deep help

And, mid if i ask but, have you thought about creating a 'livestream' of the art processes? It would be even more amazing :)

    Still, thank you

  • where did you found these wallpaper and how does the look call? I mean the look from the woman? It's not 3D but how does it then call?

  • @MrGonzaless The wallpaper on my channel and the logo at the start of each video were created by me. I'm not sure what you mean about 3D? I don't use any 3D tools, everything is painted digitally, by hand.

  • @MikeNashArt I believe he wants to understand the term "CG"

  • So cool the way you use two images at the same time.. I dont know how to do that

  • @lLena101 Double Window - Open your image in Photoshop, then click Window, Arrange, New Window. You will need to drag the windows off the bar and resize them in order to see both at the same time. The Zoom % for each window can be altered individually by using the navigator. :)

  • @MikeNashArt Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to save this 2 view config? I absolutely love being able to have a full image/zoomed image window up, but it makesw me re make the windows each time I load an image. Any way to have a default setup like this, or to at least have it save it this way for each image you set it up like this for? Thanks

  • @Drackonos Good question. It would be very useful. Sadly, I don't think it's possible, at least not with Photoshop CS4. I'll let you know if I ever find a solution!

  • @MikeNashArt Ah darn. Thanks for the quick reply sir. Your art is amazing.

  • This is just simply amazing! No camera can take a picture so detailed like this!

  • Hi Mike, can you tell which brushes do you use, to make traces and to paint. Thks!

  • @ricardopoa You can find the tools I use for download on my website :)

  • awesome writhing and illustration

  • You're painting on Wacom Bamboo Pen ? :)

  • @jamajka51 I'm using a Wacom A3 size Intuos3.

  • thanks so munch for your reply, i'll totally consider your advice. God bless you, and your talent.

  • @elduque3311 That was actually someone else who replied, but they gave good advice! A Wacom has superior pressure sensitivity to other tablets. In terms of size, I use an A3 tablet, but it doesn't matter too much. Many artists use small tablets and still create excellent art. I'd advise you to try the 30-day trial for both Photoshop and Painter, as it's very much a matter of personal preferance. I use Photoshop currently, as I find it's quicker to use and requires a less powerful computer.

  • Is the picture next to the zoomed in one, live footage of what you were drawing? If so, how did you do that?

  • window>arrange>new window

this will create a cloned window

  • W jakim to jest programie rysowane? .-.

  • @SayuriMatachashi Photoshop :)

  • your attention to detail is magnificent!!

  • hey bro, what do i need (essentials) to star painting or drawing in my computer?, thanks.

  • @elduque3311 You need a graphic tablet (Wacom is not only the best but also the only serious choice) and a software like Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop. I suggest using Painter, it´s cheaper, offers far more possibilites for a real artist and just feels more intuitive. But that´s just my 2 cents.

  • i enjoy your use of warm and cool colors

  • 1 person was turned to stone

  • Excellent artwork .

  • What size canvas were you working on? I have a little trouble finding a happy medium with good detail/workflow/speed.

  • Great work! Don't stop...

  • how do you get a full view image (on the left) and another window to zoom in and work on like in your video?

  • @d3tach3d I think it's in the arrange workspace part somewhere.

  • Comment removed

  • fakee u took a picture of a clay model and pasted it on the screen.

    ...wait holy shit..

  • @Howitzas Hahahah your commend made me lol

  • muy buen trabajo

  • * applauds* very exceptional, I personally think Medusa would have allowed you to finish sketching her before turning you to stone hehe

  • Your gallery on your website is just breathe taking and beautiful, i aspire to be an artist like you someday

  • I love this work...you're really an artist!!

can I ask you what kind of brush you have used? I hope you can answer me! :)

Sorry for my english!! I'm italian! so, finally .... complimenti! un lavoro spettacolare! sono rimasta incantata! :D

    Ciao! ;)

  • you're amazing! i love the way you are depicting her, not as a monster but as a strong character as you said :)

  • No words can describe how awesome your work is.

  • AWESOME!

    pls answer me!

i have opend ur website & i found out dat d pics of ur artwork was shiny

i mean it was like true.there wer colors!

    HOW did U DO that?

can u upload a brief tutorial pls!

  • How do you change between colors without clicking and choosing the one you want? Can you maybe hotkey them or something?

  • i can see herrr... uuuuuhhh belly button?

    lol

  • wow thats crazy!

I love that color wheel you have going on there.

Did you make that or is there somewhere I could get it?

  • "Nov 10 2010" Where the frick is part 5?!

  • @abcgefp Sorry, no part 5, it wasn't up to scratch. I forgot to edit the description!

  • I hope i can be this good someday! This is just gorgeous!

  • Wow what doyou do as a jpb that would invole this? Because i wantto do game charactor design

  • @gravesm009 Yes, I'm an Illustrator. My website link is on my Channel page. :)

  • very professional :) nice art, but i've one question.. do you draw the line art with photoshop as well or do u use a pencil and paper for it?

  • @caytman It depends how quickly I need to complete the artwork. If it's a very short deadline I normally work entirely digitally as it's quicker. If it's an image I'm painting in my spare time with no deadline, the idea normally starts out as a pencil sketch. Medusa began in pencil, before being scanned into photoshop over a grey background/base. :)

  • @MikeNashArt For how long did you draw? I'm really interested in your artwork. :) Would you help me with my beginning to draw, of course, just if you have time, because I tried often to start to draw but I never did it for real. So, if you would how can I contact you? :) It would be so great.

  • just beautiful, i love this, thank you so much for the upload

  • @paramoretwilight101 Thank you. You're very welcome, I'm pleased you enjoy it!

  • What program do you use for this?

  • Does anyone know, if here is a tutorial on utube, about how to use photoshop for digital art?

I oftem draw such characters in my freetime and it would be interisting to try out digital art...

  • Hi, i'm just loving the artwork, i saw some of your artwork (including that little phoenix) in ImagineFX, featured. I wanted to ask, that mask-like thing, how do you actually use it, what does it do? I'm new to digital art and there are so many tools i don't know how to use. I usually go with a soft/hard brush and maybe some layer blending modes ^^; Thank you for the upload by the way!

  • O yeah and what resolution did you work in?

srry for all the questions I'm just tired of seeing the same crap in my own work and wanna improve so badly

    Thanks again

  • O yeah and what resolution did you work in?

srry for all the questions I'm just tired of seeing the same crap in my own work and wanna improve so badly

  • Why these videos have gotten only up to a thousand veiws is beyond me this is pure skill and the best I've seen in awhile

I have a few questions if you don't mind

first is how do you get the preview update to the left side

second is did you use reference just curious

and third did you make that brush you use to blend I would like to make one or find out where you got it from

Your work is AWESOME and truly inspiring friend

  • what brush set did you use for this? :)

  • @Chrilliie It's difficult to answer this, because I use a variety of brushes from different places, also some that I create myself. I like using brushes that create marks similar to real paint on canvas as I love the look of traditional work and the textures found there.

As a general rule, use brushes with soft edges and a light texture. This will help you blend colours smoothly, but prevent that airbrushed appearance which tends to drag life out of your images.

  • awesome skills mate :)

  • Beautiful painting! Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Wonderful Tutorial and very helpful :)

    I reall love your Artworks.

I just have a little question: which programm do you use to record your paintings?

Thanks a lot for your help :)

  • @Rambolichen I use iShowU for mac. :)

  • how did you get the color palette on the right? How did you make it into a color wheel?

  • @shawslayer I downloaded it from Charlie Bowater, she's a great artist. Just google her and you'll find the colourwheel download.

  • how did you get the color palette on the right? How did you make it into a color wheel?

  • with the 4 part already? :D

    wow that was fast! ^^
