@nikhasor : No, they are easily available at most of the kitchen store and a lot of larger Indian and South Asian Grocery stores carry them as well. They are also available online :)
Are you girls based in the US? I moved here recently and I am dying because I have no pressure cooker. Please tell me which brand yours is. Thanks a ton for the video. :)
You ladies are really doing a very good job. You do your own research and found the easiest way to make Indian food and it might help people. Further, you make all kind of dishes of Indian sub –continents. I hate some people who are posting their cooking videos especially vegetarian dishes and promoting their religious beliefs. Unlike those guys, you make very good vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. I would like to share my recipes with you.
Don't you just hate people who make stupid comments? This is a cooking video, most people view so that they can enjoy a rich and varied muticultural cuisine. I feel privilaged to be able to access all food sites which help educate our palates and let us enjoy genuine recipes at home without having to travel. There was a time when recipes would never be shared not even between families. Thankyou showme the curry for a wonderful site,& ignor the stupid , uneducated twits!
Each pressure cooker is different. We have found that one minute per whistle is a good guideline. You will have to experiment with your particular cooker to determine the actual time.
I love these recipes. I'm a recent vegetarian and I hate it when people make vegetarian recipes masquerading as non veggie dishes! This dal looks amazing, and it's not pretending to be something it's not. Can't wait to try it myself.
Good try....but not original....I am from India and I think i eat Dal minimum 200 times in a year and the photo i see in this video of the their finally cooked Dal is horrible.....you better visit India some time before selling your Americanizes daal recipes on internet.....and let me add...mustard and curry leaves are generally added in sambhar daal (from Southren India) and not in tadka daal...
If I use a standard American/European style constant-pressure pressure cooker (the non-whistling style), how do I know what the cooking time should be?
I think u want to add onion fry and add garlic paste ... then simmer the heat and add butter... afteronion is golden.. add dal .. why add moong dal. i think toor dal is enough.. then put them all in pressure cooker..
Then add cumin seeds and fry to paste.
Eat with Brown rice..so that there is even balance in Crbohydrares..and protein ..
I would like these videos more if it were just the woman on the left. The woman on the right seems like she's trying to make everything look nice as opposed to cooking, but i'm sure the food is good either way.

Just tried it ... and the whole house smells awesome! I love when that happens. I regularly watch your videos... keep up the good work ladies... screw the negativism.
I made this tonight and it was a hit. I used lentils for the toor daal since you said any mix could be used and we don't have that here. Even with out the curry leaves this was just delish.
Wow!!!!! The best Dal we ever tasted in our life! just amazing.(seriously) Ok , yes there's alot of ingredrients BUT it's f***** worth it. This is soul food people. Go for it!
btw: I can't believe the amount of negative comments on a cooking recipies video! C'mon guys!!!

Don't u think if ginger garlic add with onion then it test great.
1978Anjana 1 year ago
@1978Anjana
You can definitely add ginger/garlic. We try to vary the ingredients in our recipes so that they all don't taste the same.
