@supermancrashin Naah, Son Goku is a reference to the Monkey King in the Chinese tale "Journey to the West". It was just used by both anime, Saiyuki uses it more fitting to the story though.

Goku's not a common name, it's just that both Goku's, the one in DBZ and the one in Saiyuki are both based on the fable, "Journey to the West". Saiyuki is a bit more real to the story than DBZ but both Goku's are similar and full named "Son Goku"
