@AllTechTuts well the n900 has symbian which to be fair is an outdated os, maemo although not mature is smoother and cleaner, also the n900 has a bestter cpu and more ram so things run faster and much more reliable, a small price to pay to lose portrait mode

It has Maemo5, which is what nokia should have picked up and put into the new N8 because it's a fantastic OS, much prettier than crusty old symbian. Its biggest advantage is that it's open source; everything is free, all apps and updates and other 3rd party software revelations like overclocking all completely free. You can do whatever you want with it; THAT is what smartphones should be.

Nokia can do so much better than symbian. If only...;D

@BrEnNo1023 i know the n900 has maemo, im typing on it now! maemo is so much better than symian, in looks, performance and apps, its just a shame they ditched it in favour off the awful buggy mess of symbian, the n97 is almost unusable due to the os.

plus most symbian phones use seperate phone memory to the other memory which is annoying, maemo 5 is the best!!!

@nipperoid well, the fact that we know which phone is better doesn't seem to matter to nokia i guess. My theory is they're afraid of change, and they're only willing to use the n900 and Maemo5 combo as a tester platform for 'indie' users while they continue fapping over symbian and pushing it down the throats of slow mainstream phones. I ditched my 5800 because of the lag and bug issues. I nearly bought an n97 instead!

We made the right choice, now let the rest of the nokia world catch up XD

the flashing you are seeing is the light sensor its infared, you can only see it through a camera, have a look at your TV remote control through a camera, its exactly the same, and its how night vision cameras are made

Perfectly working...

once it went into the water, I pulled it out and removed the battery and the SIM card..removed water drops and let it under a table-lamp (very close to it for at least 24 hours to make sure there is nothing left inside. (I covered the screen of course..) and after that I prayed and turned it on, and worked like nothing happened.. the only thing happened is the appearance of a red sticker on the motherboard which tells that the phone has been dropped in the water..
