  • Whats up dude. I need to come to Ohio and get some work done. All the shops I've come across around here are shit with artists that don't give a damn. There are a few notable exceptions, but they are always booked up because they give a damn. Hit me up in a message with your email, and I'll shoot you some ideas that I've had, and see if we can work something out.

  • Hey dude, nice video but please don't make any more. I'm really sick of these scratchers thinking you tube is there apprenticeship.

  • Dude where is your shop I have to come

  • @gunbunny007 columbus ohio....ya you should come...where u from

  • @BootlegPainting uk but ill be traveling america in april

  • @gunbunny007 .... well tell ya what if u show up in april I'll roll out the red carpet for ya... always cool to meet a youtuber and who knows maybe do some gaming or a tattoo or something... we can film it and then you'll be in a bootleg vid.... so ya when april gets closer hit me up and we'll make some plans fur sure

  • hey i realy like your videos, your jigges are wasome . the other thing is me and you are a lot alike, i alway get side tracked, nothing bad. it's just that i always have other other projects on the go. again thanks a lot bro. i'm alway lerning new stuff everday! i tryed to make them befor just they didnt work out at all

  • @stvhow79 I need to do my own video. You're very accomplished but my system is way easier. I built for about 7 years. Working a few of hours each night after our regular jobs , My wife and I would turn out about 1000 needles every 7-10 days. Waste wasn't zero but it was close. We built 3 pin singles, 3's, 5' s, 8's and 14's (all round on round bar loops and revolutions.) and some flat 4's and 6's. I wish I could show you. I'm sure you would appreciate the method.

  • @beckasherman make a video i'm always game to learn something new

  • thanx for the videos!! reali helpfull.!

  • I'm just confused why one person has gone through all the videos and disliked them. Seems like a lot of effort over something you'd dislike. I found the videos fascinating.

  • @jjeerrmmuu ... some people are just jerks bud..... it dont matter what you do someone is going to be a jerk and try to rain on your parade.... we call em trolls.... but glad you liked it

  • @BootlegPainting If I wasn't in Australia, I'd come to your shop for a tattoo. Have a good one ay.

  • Im 16 and just now getting into tattooing. I made my own machine and did my first tattoo on myself and im now kind of addicted. Haha. Can you recommend anywhere for me to get my apprenticeship in the atlanta area?

  • @powers141 ummm I dont know anyone down that way but I am writing a book on how to get into it as we speak... but ya put together a portfolio and visit some of the shops around your town,,, offer to do cleaning (taking out the trash etc etc) as a way to get in the door... take in your port and say hey I am willing to work hard and earn my stripes and see how that works.. you have to figure they get a ton of people coming in asking to be taught so stand out to them... pm me if u need more info

  • @BootlegPainting ... I'll send you a copy of my book when I'm done if you want a copy... oh ya go get the book tattooing a to z by huck spalding... you can prob google it or amazon it... it will be worth you money for sure and it will teach you a ton and when you go visit shops and know a little bit your already a step ahead

  • GREAT VIDS BOSS! its absolutely true about getting that knowledge from a shop but the sad thing about it which i've learned is that not everyone shop bound knows what the fuck they are doing. i've seen horrible tattoos by so called artist and they look like an apprentice did it but when asked how much you paid, you get a ridiculous amount. All in all, RESEARCH your craft. Vids and books with great information like you have given is what directs a good artist. But thats not all. Dedication!!!

  • Thanks man I'll keep looking. I've been trying to redo alot of my drawings..went thru a divorce and I think she trashed my stuff...I have noticed egos run high in the shops. I met an artist the other day who quoted a price and even broke it down explaining the cost covered insurance and that when all was said and done he was only gonna get 200 bucks out of it..he seems alright but his ego is quiet and scarey..lol I appreciate all you've shared w me. If i could apprentice frm u I would try

  • @kerr7178 hehehehe insurance huh lol for months u wont even be touching people so whats there to insure... thats funny.... ya he prob told u 3 to 5 grand huh??? thats my guess anyway.... but ya bro just look for a guy who knows what he is doing...even if that does have an ego with it... which prob will as 95% have huge ones just comes with the turf...so where ya from??? if you want to know about anything just hit me up bootlegstudios@att.net and I'll do my best to help ya out if I can....

  • @BootlegPainting oh ya some shops wont charge a dime or will work it out where u pay them with the tats u do...usually it is a 50/50 split but some may say 75/25 until u have me paid off... another one will say it's this much but they will get u the equipment u need.... what they will do is charge u 900 and give u 200 worth of stuff so watch out for that as well...... if it dont sound right it prob isnt

  • I've been to a few shops in my time, and I know what to look for when it comes to picking an artist to do the work. but its a whole different story when looking for someone to apprentice under... could you tell me some things to really look for when trying to choose?

    Thanks

  • @kerr7178 if all he is worried about is how much it will cost or how good he is walk away... he should be talkin about you more than him, tryin to find out all he can about u to see if ur worth his time... I mean u can learn from just about anyone an everyone but if all he is worried about is how much to charge u well u prob wont learn much other than how to have an ego... it is tough to find an in with this business an u may have to go with an ass to get in but once in it becomes easier

  • @BootlegPainting easier to get in somewhere else so...... i know that sounds weird but it's how it works sometimes

  • I hear what your saying about needle making being a lost art..I have been to several shops looking for an apprenticeship and non of them around my area know how or aren't going to teach it. one place That I asked about them said he knew how but thought it was a waste of time to do it and or teach it... so I'm trying to learn all I can about it while I can. I want the apprenticeship and have had a few interested teachers just not sure which one to pick, my gut tells me to run from most of them

  • @kerr7178 ur gut may be right..... if u dont feel it dont do it

  • If you could throw up a tutorial on that well that would just be the tits right there... thanks again for everything

  • Thanks for the videos. Even if it costs more I want to make my own just because of these videos. I like to tinker with shit anyways. One question do you buy new bars to attach your needles to or you reuse the old ones?? Thanks again and awsome videos... F*UCK the hackers make more!!

  • @CocaineCowboy88 i buy new ones when they wear out (which sometimes dont take long) but we re setr the old ones when we can and re use em...... some guys wont some will, but we re use tubes over and over so it dont hurt as long as u clean and ster them right u wont have any probs.... and it is WAY cheaper to make em than buy them trust that

  • wonderful videos and thank you very much for sharing

  • Dude that was mad watchin them video's, you showed us and explained it really good...thx for sharing it...peace...

  • glad u liked it

  • also, would a razor blade be easier when sorting the needles than just fingers? I make a similar looking part for a device that also uses needles, and find a razor easily slips under to allow picking them up andbetween for dividing them into groups (sorry if I've said this on your other video, youtube spazzed at me for a bit)

  • never thought about using a blade....... but I've done it this way for about 13 yrs so it may be too late to teach an old dog new tricks...... i'll try it out though it cant hurt and might just find it easier thanks bro

  • *grins* I appreciate this,I hope to (if I get an apprenticeship) spare my employer a few of the newbie questions (whass that bit do?etc) *shrug* a little technical knowledge of this sort will surely make new employees switch from being a time-drainer to an asset faster.

  • Are you going to do any more vids, on the tattooing techniques at all? Keep up the gr8 wrk bruv.

  • prob not.... too many hackers out there as it is and if ur trying to learn do urself a huge favor.... go learn from a pro not a dvd. u prob dont wanna hear that but thats the most important thing i can tell ya. and sure u may have to go threw a few egos to get there but in the end u'll be better for it. PM me and we'll talk bro

  • Great set of vids!

I have to say your not only good at your work/art. But your a great teacher as well.

  • glad u liked them

  • lol im from the midlands o and my cusions are west brom fans lol so i got to alot of their games as they all have season tickets but carnt alwys make it wearas im a blue nose through and through

  • glad u liked.... hoping to keep a die-ing art form alive.... it blows me away that more artist dont or CANT do it, it just blows me away.... and the kicker is they will make excusses for why they dont or cant make them and it dont hold water... like it is cheaper to buy pre-made, well i dont know ANYTHING that is cheaper to have done for u instead of doing it urself...... but when u dont know how it is easier to make an excuse than admit u dont know how i guess... much love bro

  • hey how good of an artist do I have to be for someone to consider me for apprenticeship? I guess I'm decent but I don't know the standards for tatooist.

  • well i've seen guys who cant cant draw a straight line with a ruler tattoo so u dont have to be picaso.... i look for someone with a drive that just wont quit if i tell him no 4 or 5 times and he still comes back well he is prob the one

  • your a taleneted man dale very talented !

  • haha should have continued to watch the whole thing.

    Still a great vid bro.

  • interesting, do most tattoo artists make their own needles? Always thought they bought them pre-packaged

My girlfriend and I are Thinking about getting a tattoo. She is getting a Manchester united logo and I am getting a Denver Broncos logo.

  • booooo manchester united ARE POOO lol

  • indeed

  • Wouldn't know. Hate soccer.

Trying to get her to watch Grid Iron Football.

  • nope most buy em pre-made and do ur research on ur artist dont just go to the first shop and u'll be happy, let me know once u get it

  • we have been looking for about a month and a half now. Look at a lot of their work.

We are thinking about going down to New York city for them during the holidays.

we might make a week of it. Celebrate Christmas, go to a few comedy shows, catch a football game and get our first tats =)

  • if u can ask for pics of the tattoos HEALED..... it's not hard to make it look good when it is first done but it's another to make it look good after it is all healed..... if the artist didnt get it in right it can fall out or scar up or whatever so ask to see healed pictures not fresh-ly done pics. or ask to see people whohave his work on them so u can see it in person, thats better than ANY PICTURE..... now dont let me scare u away i'm just giving u some inside views of what to look for

  • but as long as u find a shop thats been around for years and the artist has been around for years you should be just fine.... in other words stay out of the kitchen hack and the just opened fly by night guy and u should be happy as all get out.... u know it is funny people will put more effort into finding a pair of shoes than something that will be on their asz til they die (well actually til they rot away) and that is the truth they care more about shoes than their skin i see it ALL the time
