  • The Legend Rafi Sahab and shammi Ji were just superb and impeccable. just listen to the bandogen and trumpet behind. Absolutely majestic music. we have 7 billion people around us, but i bet if some 1 has the guts to just try to sing even 1% of what Rafi sahab has sung.

  • Please do not compare Shammi Kapoor with Elvis Presley. Besides being more handsome and good looking than Presley, Shammi was a greater entertainer and better human being. He created his own style of acting which is still unique. His music, with the rock roll beat, took Indian cinema to a new level. These are the reasons why Shammi Kapoor will be missed by his millions of fans all over the globe.

This duo were unseparateble because they both belonged to each other, they needed each other for the film industry. Almighty be with you. You were simply just great. May God be with you. Khushy100, Mubarak.

  • @khushy100 90% of shammi kapoors songs were composed by shankar jaikishan. He wouldnt have reached this fame without there great compositions.

  • What a song!!. Excellently sung by Rafi. Its not wrong to say just because of Rafi sahaab's songs some actors became hit and stars othewise flopped.

  • Watch Rafi singing this song on stage (some event in Bombay in the sixties) with such zest, such mischief in his voice and in his smile. When that clip was shown as part of the "newsreel" in a theater, the song became even more popular.

  • @bathsing i think the shammi kapoor- rafi- SJ combination is probably the best of all time, even better than rd burman-kishore kumar-rajesh khanna

  • Mohammad Rafi is LEGEND....

  • Chak de Phattey, Mohammad Rafi Saab

  • haha wie genial haha .. das ist ja lustig .. man sollte das nicht musik sondern comedy nennen :D ... ich mags :D ^^

  • its an awesome song with great actors. I just don't like that western style dance...its not our culture

  • relax dear, It is a great dance going with the style of the 1960's. Indian culture consist of a lot of dances and we inherited this from the british infuence. It is a part of indian culture now. So relax and enjoy it and don't decide for yourself what is right and wrong.. The dance i graceful in it's own way in this song. thank you. take care

  • No, we haven't inherited this..this is not a part of our culture (even if you want it to be). Do your parents or family members do it? Do people do it at parties in India? I don't think so. It may be graceful, but it is not indian culture. I'm surprised you don't know this.

  • No offense. But my parents have did it all their lives during christmas and new year parties with their friends. Same goes with a large number of people in calcutta. It depends on the occassion where this type of music is played but people do know how to do a cha cha cha or waltz. In goa at some places, it is a rage even now. It is not necessary for this type of dance to be known everywhere to claim it is not indianized too.

p.s my mom just wondered at your ignorance. she is 58 by the way.

  • By this defination of indian culture, bullock cart travelling is a truely indian culture and trains were a western concept and foreign too. what about the kebabs and mughlai cuisine. Aren't they part of indian culture now. The same goes for british influence. The goan carnival and the dances of anglo-indian community which is more orl ess the same like in this video is part of indian culture too now.

  • There is a huge anglo-indian community in calcutta who follow the same dance like in the video during parties here and is a part of their culture. If you take anglo indians to be indians then their culture is indian too and same goes for the dance. culture is never static but keeps on evolving with newer things coming in the pot. I agree this dance is not done in all parts of the country. it might not be in punjab or gujarat but it sure does in calcutta and goan carnival. think about this

  • I get your point. My point is that I don't think that any indians (except indian christians) ever do this. My parents nor any of my family members or friends have ever done this. It is a purely non-indian thing..you can't compare ballroom dance with the railway system we adopted, they're 2 different things, industrialization and art. Indians can copy if they want but like I said, it isn't and never will be our culture.

  • desi girl ..

    don't be an ass,

    relax

  • leobindaas...

    fuck off,

    thanks

  • desi girl ...

you need to get back on the banana boat .. that's what you need to do ..

    thank you, come again

  • leobindass...

what the hell is a banana boat...something that only a loser like you would know about...I guess you've spent a lot of time on it.

    Piss off.

    Thanks

  • desi girl ...

with your "big mouth" i see you getting on the banana boat ..

why don't you just chill out and enjoy the song .. who gives a rat's ass about this being Indian culture or not? the artists are Indian and they did a hell of a job in this song ...

    cheers

  • leobindass...

For your information, I love this song and shammi kapoor and rafi..and pretty much everything else about it. And I didn't diss the artists.. you obviously have a problem understanding my point. I won't try to make you understand because your english is weak and I'll just waste my time.

Does the banana boat exist in your mind along with all your imaginary friends? Get a life, loser.

  • haha .. what makes you think i don't have a life and how can you say that i am a loser? do you know where i came from and what i am at this point in my life? stop judging me because you don't know the first thing about me. i understand your point. you are trying to beat your drum by trying to show off as being knowledgeable about a certain aspect of the Indian culture. it's "ignorant fucks" like you that pretend to be "born philosophers" and beat their own drum. remember this you little twat ...

  • that Indian culture had and has assimilated all that came it's way. from Aryans to Muslims to Christians (except the British, we did pickup a whole bunch of their mannerisms and culture). what makes you think that this dance was or wasn't a part of a bigger section of the Indian population? that India has assimilated most of what came it's way is apparent. so quit whining about a stupid dance. enjoy the song and leave the thinking to the real philosophers. you are better off on a banana boat.

  • You're a loser because you can't wait for my reply so you can reply me back. Are you glued to your youtube or something? Leads me to conclude that you have no other life...hence, you're a loser. And you're just blowing this whole thing out of proportion. Its my opinion that this kind of western dance does not suit us and isn't a part of our culture. That's it, its simple. And will you please, for fucks sake stop sending messages to my inbox. Shove your banana boat.

  • you are a condescending little bitch .. and yeah i am glued to my screen coz i work in IT developing software and yeah i love to reply to your whining about Indian culture .. you are a fucking ABCD .. what is that first thing you know about Indian culture other than your mommy and daddy .. so shut the fuck up and go pretend to be Indian .. little piece of shit
