Abortion is not an easy topic. I find the idea to be quite unsettling, and view it as an option of last resort. Still, I am not going to take responsibility for the moral state of another and take their medical sovereignty away. If one chooses to have an abortion, it is not on me to stop them or to help them. I say give them the choice, but also the responsibility for the decision. Heaven knows the choice weighs heavily on peoples' shoulders without me putting my two cents in on top of it.

The fetus has the precursors to its major organs by 5 weeks, it takes at least 4 more weeks for the organs to be able to function (to some degree).
It isn't until the 27th week when the brain develops enough to control some body movement and by that point it's illegal to abort.
@JonBj2 Sorry, just double checked it, the correct weeks are 4 for major organs being developed, week 5 is when the baby's brain waves are detectable, this is the point that most girls finally figure out they are pregnant, so that is a no go for the lack of brain function. So what other excuses do you have? As for labor, there is the C section for that.

Abortion is not an easy topic. I find the idea to be quite unsettling, and view it as an option of last resort. Still, I am not going to take responsibility for the moral state of another and take their medical sovereignty away. If one chooses to have an abortion, it is not on me to stop them or to help them. I say give them the choice, but also the responsibility for the decision. Heaven knows the choice weighs heavily on peoples' shoulders without me putting my two cents in on top of it.

i say that since the exact moment of conception is not known, that cannot be used as a valid argument. i do say, however, that past a certain trimester (right word) a baby should not be allowed to be aborted. there is already a law for this if i am not mistaking. i am all for choice though. (incoming joke) the people who want to take away the right to abort an unborn child within the time constraints of the law should be post-term aborted. (and end joke here) =D

It is also important to mention women who are ill equipped to have a fetus in their womb, which can potentially put their lives at risk.
I personally believe that abortion is something I'd condemn in an advanced stage, however, I do believe that a woman has the right to choose if and when she wants to get one without putting her life at risk.
I may or may not agree with the act, but I do think it's every woman's right to choose and have access to an abortion.

I'm alright with it if the baby is going to have some horrible birth defect that will cause it horrible suffering throughout its life (AIDS is manageable, so that doesn't count.) Until you are 18, your body is the responsibility of your parents/guardians and if you don't have those, of the state. 15 year old children do not have "choice". I don't know why there aren't more strict rules on this as there is with statutory rape and such.

@JonBj2 Wow, you would have to cut it short quick, by the seventh week, the brain is primarily formed in basic structure and starts functioning immediately after it is formed, so these girls that are aborting the baby at that point and on, are doing so to an individual who can feel pain. and that small lump has most of its major organs by 5 weeks, so it cannot be called a lump, and those who abort their babies (let's be real here) are much more likely to commit suicide, so good luck.

@Jeremiah90526 Even if the brain has formed that doesn't mean the fetus can feel or think, the brain can only control basic stuff like the heart beat, the baby can't feel pain.
The fetus has the precursors to its major organs by 5 weeks, it takes at least 4 more weeks for the organs to be able to function (to some degree).
It isn't until the 27th week when the brain develops enough to control some body movement and by that point it's illegal to abort.

@JonBj2 Sorry, just double checked it, the correct weeks are 4 for major organs being developed, week 5 is when the baby's brain waves are detectable, this is the point that most girls finally figure out they are pregnant, so that is a no go for the lack of brain function. So what other excuses do you have? As for labor, there is the C section for that.

If a fifteen year old has a baby and is not ready to take care of it, there's no law that's forcing her to keep that baby. There is someone out there who would love to adopt and raise that baby. So the argument that "a young, ill-equipped girl shouldn't be forced to raise a baby" doesn't hold much water. That baby will be a blessing to someone else. She doesn't have to decide between raising her child or having a doctor kill it.

Ex. first trimester, mom is endangered, or the baby is with sever malformation that it is going to be a still-born 100%..

@Dragongrl205 as soon as the sperm fertilizes the egg thats life and thats when a soul and spirit are created and thats when god sees that baby as a person with purpose.the body mite not be there yet but the spirit and soul are ready for the body when the time is right. if the body is destroyed then the spirit and soul go to heaven and the purpose for that baby has been stopped.
god is not happy about that at all. but satan loves it.

@luarionte hi, growing up children is a task, i have two of them and none of them were planned, but i loved them always immediatley, not so my husband it took him some time to adjust, there is one thing a child longs for and thats the parents love, its not the wealth, not even a warm home, not the best meals, it is only that your mother and father will acknoledge you as their biggest treasure. Children are so forgiving if parents cant provide materialistic things, but love makes them somebody

@flintlockrifle I don't deny the humanity of the fetus, I deny the personhood- b/c it physically lacks the brain development AND consciousness, self-awareness that GRANTS personhood. A right stops when it endangers, puts at risk, or seriously takes away from another individual- right to worship- so long as you don't impose on others. Freedom of speech until it becomes lies/hate speech/incites violence/ect, the fetus doesn't have rights unless the mother extends them, and that's how it should be.
