  • i bought a 67 Gibson Melody Maker for $350!!!! 8.75/10 condition

  • dave hunter looks like mike dirnt of green day anyone agree please reply

  • these things kick ass

  • I had the chance to try on of these es 125, but it was a 1964, and I found that it sounded really good, played really good and brought a nice feeling overall :D

  • The little sg/melody maker is lovely. I'd love one.

  • The best review i've seen on youtube in a long, long time.

  • He lloks a bit like Mike Dirnt O.o

  • @Ankamaandre lol not even close

  • That melody maker is a great trashy-tone garage-punk ax. The one Carl is playing sounds like crap, but Carl's a great player, no doubt.

  • can you remove the tremelo arm?

  • @MhStrat I think it´s a maestro so you can remove the screw and pull it out. I got one myself :)

  • G and L make the best electric guitars these days followed by Ibanez. Blind faith in Big guitar Brand names is a common disease.

  • actualy the es125 is basic version of an es 165 ,so its a very good jazz guitar, these guys are kinda snobbish in thier attitudes toward lower range guitars forgeting that a "student" model from 40 even from 20 years ago is amuch higher quality than a prograde guitar from korea or china is now

  • the sg body melody maker are absolutely amazing... i've seen one with p90s on it at a guitar shop and should have bought it... so great.

  • I see a Dr Z

  • what song do you play at 2:00

  • my guess on the es is that the pickup isnt grounded, in my experience this produces a real powerful low end sound, and i think thats what carl is talking about.

  • I want a Gibbons SP.

  • those guitars are very nice i wish i had a gibsong rfrrtgj59gpykhgojyh4i0ygjminh9fun,g6jn0my5,y,phn6jih56,hnyhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnhnnh

  • those guitars are very nice i wish i had a gibson

  • You can find modified 60's Melody Makers out there fairly cheap. $400 and up. I got a 61' with a neck repair with a 64' Epiphone Olympic(awesome guitar, like Firebird neck) with box of old parts from a guy in Wisconsin for $250. He was a retired Luthier cleaning out his shop. The parts he sold me were incredible, old 50's and 60's Gibson pieces he had accumulated over the years. I made a fortune on that deal. By the way, early 60's Melody makers have nice full size necks, great wood.

  • do they still make the SG version? if not when was the last time they started making them?

  • @Commiteee

No, they made them from 1967 to the mid-to-late 1970s.

  • @Commiteee Unfortunatley, they don't

  • Man I'd love to own one of those.

Anybody know what kinda riff that was @5:07? I'd love to learn something like that. haha

  • 2:45 Then why the hell are maestro tailpiece so costly?

  • @cheezbeenzriz dude its gibson, even a pack of strings is 10 bucks

  • @DaveShredder5150 yeah I noticed you pay for the name more than the product itself.

  • I love my 2007 dual pickup melody maker. It's light, very comfortable, has great sustain, and the pickups sound a bit like a Telecaster with more balls. I agree that like all gibsons it is overpriced, but I got mine used.

  • reminds me of a fender fiesta red mustang.. lolz, nice work gibson..

  • love the red on the sg style melody maker

  • wow thats great cool -greetings from germany -winni

  • man i would give anything for a sg melody maker I HATE BEING LEFTY!!

  • dont kill yourself

  • Weezer guitar!

  • dave hunter is an total ass when it comes on talking about guitars, always talking like he´s best, while he plays like a monkey.

  • @krullebol4

And what to do with Leo Fender then?! The guy could not play a single note on a guitar but he build the most signiffant and recognizeble guitars in the world!

I think you can and may talk about guitars even if you play not quite good.

  • @Hyronimus89 ok that´s true.

  • ;) Never judge to soon, greetings and respect.

    Hyronimus

  • the new melody makers are crap. you could get alot better guitar for alot less

  • I've noticed there are some questions about the amps here - they are discussed in the book and the full DVD with it (this is just an excerpt from a DVD that's well over one hour long), but to give you the details here, the amp on the left is Victoria's own prototype (first assembled example) of the new single-ended Two Stroke model, available as kit or fully assembled. The amp on the right is a Dr Z Z-28. No pedals in this excerpt, just tuners for mute on/off I believe.

  • how much is the Sg melody maker

  • i saw a one just like that one in the vintage room at the guitar center in Hollywood, CA and it was like $1400

  • @starwarsraul13

Around $900 for one in good condition with a single bridge-pickup. 2-pickups models are slightly more expensive: around $1200.

  • @starwarsraul13 For a new one, about 650 bucks. The cheapest Gibson USA guitar on them market tody

  • @starwarsraul13

around 2000 dollar for a one pickup version, a real 60's vintage.

  • Do they get out of tune constantly like Epiphones?

  • they use gibsons standard tuners, but i don't like gibsons tuners so i guess so, but i'm still getting one :D

  • only crappy epi's go out of tune, my brother has a les paul deluxe epi, and its intonation is amazing. so like the les paul specials and such, they suck

  • they don't have oil tuners (like shallers or grovers) just the standard ''open'' 3 on a plate things so they aren't that good.

  • I have a meldoy maker to. It had a regualr alcino single coil pickup and I put a humbucker in

  • what kind of amp is the guy on the left playing?

  • haha 1:00 he sounds like an old man

  • @ASTROAVERY those crazy kids and their rock and roll bands

  • @TeamXTREMEPANTERA and their fancy record players

  • David Ryan Harris plays a melody maker with John Mayer, it sounds really good.

  • Joan Jett also plays a melody maker

  • Robby Krieger played a Melody Maker on The Doors' first album.

  • Really? Sweet.

  • two fitty!!

  • affordable in the 60s

    Not so much now!

  • I got one for under 300 on eBay, then put some time, money, and work into it. Total cost=around $500 with new true Bigsby and Kluson Deluxe Tuners. I love it!

  • which one?

  • A 1968 Gibson SG melody Maker. The bright red one...

  • someone getting a joan jett signature?

  • Yep, ordered one and its coming in by mid February. Its just a great guitar.

  • Could you do a review im really thinking of getting one

  • As soon as it comes, i most likely will.

  • By golly, its a Gibson Stratocaster!

  • im getting a melody maker in december

  • I wish they would tell the amps they use, that has a lot to do with the sound

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • sweet, me too!

  • By first i meant to say the first one that was played

  • I just got one like that first its actually a 68 sg melody maker also. Paid around 295 but it needs some work, im excited though

  • were did u get the sg

  • I almost bought a Melody Maker, but I got laied off and had to give it back to the guy. It was the same color as the one Carl had, SG body with one P90 and the vibrato. I liked it.

  • i think im going to buy the 2007 melody maker

  • im getting one in octber when r u getting urs

  • in late july. a melody maker or a epiphone les paul, hard choise

  • Go with the epiphone les paul standard!
