I have a potentially unusual point of view that you may like to discuss.
I believe that God = everything
or more specifically, God is the energy of which matter is made.
So to me God is NOT a deity. And absolutely nothing exists outside of God's "will" saying that everything is perfect exactly how it is.
This means that God is not a creature with thought and decision making powers. There are no rules or laws outside of natural law, and physics, basically. Pantheism FTW.

It makes perfect sense when you realize that belief and knowledge are not the same thing. Atheism and Theism are belief claims. "I do not believe" and "I believe" If you assert that something is not real, you cross the line from belief to knowledge.
To put it simply, I do not know whether a God/gods exist, and I do not believe in any.
This makes me an Agnostic as far as knowledge goes, but Atheistic in the arena of belief.

I feel that hypothetical didn't accomplish much of anything. Of course you don't say something like that to a child. But you distract from the issue with this comment. Why the problem with "meaningless?" What is so inherently terrible about the notion that one's life serves the purpose the individual makes for it and nothing more? I think this is the interesting question. In answer to it, I'd say that I certainly don't find religion necessary to feel that life is meaningful.

With the world being so complex, you would need a truly intelligent creator. With a truly intelligent creator, I believe he would not make this world so atrophic. Since this is not the case, I find it hard to believe in Christianity. The world is messed up bro, and I don't think God would let this be.

Well, I did not mean for my comment to get dissected, but OK here we go... I go out and save someone's life (good). I go out and kill someone (bad). I think that is pretty much universally accepted. My point was that this guy was arguing the fact that atheists have no moral compass which is one billion percent false. I have a good judgment between what is right and what is wrong. Actually, no. Deists believe that there is a God out there, but that being has little to no intervention with its creations here on earth. Basically, there are no miracles and such, but there is a God. They don't praise the God... They just acknowledge that there is something out there.

I know what Deists, believe, but your statement only backs my assertion. Deism requires a deity or a god. If an Atheists says something like "I believe in Vishnu, but I do not revere Vishnu as a god" then he is still an Atheists because he does not revere Vishnu as a deity.

The fact of the matter is there is no such thing as a moral compass. There is no universal standard for right and wrong, good and bad. There is only what is. Humans are the ones applying the attributes.

Morality comes from the ability to put yourself in other peoples shoes and understand how it would feel if something you are thinking of doing to them would be something you would want done to you. From that comes empathy, compassion, and what we call love. There does not have to a god or a moral relativist monstrosity for to know what's right and wrong. I am not accountable to some "God." I have to live with myself. That's where my morality comes from. NOT FEAR OF PUNISHMENT!
