Barris didnt design the Ecto-1. Sorry guys. he claims it but didnt have anything to do with it. watch the blu-ray and the REAL creators get there credit. Dan Aykroyd was one of them.
literally a concept car from a 50s movie called it started witha kiss then the car was put into storage barris bought the car for less then a 100 dollars now its worth millions
batmobile number one was a '55 Lincoln Futura, the remainder cars that Barris built were a '65 Ford Galaxie (Barris currently owns one of the Galaxie's)
@rocknrolldaddio It was a Lincoln Futura concept car from the late '50's. If you're ever able to see it you'll see that Mr. Barris didn't take it very far from the original, even the bubble roof was Lincoln's own. Not to fault him though, George was reportedly only given about 2 weeks to design and deliver a working vehicle to the set. Now that was genius and creativity all rolled up together.
If you don't care to wait the Batmobile pics start at 2:57. Something has changed on the car from 1966. Look at the bat decals on the doors, then look at the original in clips from the TV show. They are different!
They've either been replaced or this is another replica.
Just like there was only ONE real "catwoman" and that was Julie Newmar.... there can only be ONE batmobile and THIS car was it. The newer versions consistently failed to measure up!
Very nice video...Love looking at all the cars...but the Batmobile was my favorite...my Dad Dick Dean...helped Mr Barris make the car for the show...and I did see Mr Barris in the video...what year was the video done?...lots of smiles here...thank you...MsKim
I remember the 1989 Philly Car Show where the 66 Batmobile was on display because the new 1989 Batmobile was the hot item of the year. Also saw Ecto-1. Christina Applegate and the guy who played Bud on "Married...With Children" were there too. Still have the Hot Rod mag with the 89 batmobile on the cover too.
did the guy with the batmobile have like a curly mullet type thing? cauz there's somebody that lives down my street with the batomobile and like the bat limo....
George Barris did NOT designed Ecto 1.The Ecto-1 was originally thought up between Dan Aykroyd and artist John Daveikis, before being finalized by Steven Dane.
George Barris has nothing to do with Ecto, kinda like he claimed he designed the delorean in Back To The Future, but didn't and had a law suit filed by Universal Studios on him.
I wish that you would get your facts right; Yes, George did design the Batmobile, among a slew of cars for movies and t.v., but one of them was NOT the Monkeemobile, that was designed and built by Dean Jeffries; and and also the "Black Beauty" from the Green Hornet.
I think a lot of the mistakes arise from the fact that Barris promotes the Monkeemobile as the 'Barris Monkeemobile' even though he didn't build it, only owns it. He's been known for claiming rights to cars he didn't build. The Lil Deuce Coupe was another.
Sweet! I always assumed that assorted body kits would be available sooner or later, especially now that most auto panels are now fiber/plastic. New panels every few years, a brand new ride, instead of $25K disposable vehicles.
hey umm does anyone else notice the tiny penis spray painted on the wall in 0:17 !? behind the cars like wtf!?

All of these cars are cool.
I'll take any one of them, but the Batmobile is what I want the most.
Imagine riding down the street in that.
