I have a bit simpler way:

Wrap the circles & blue things around the ball, as in this video. Then, attach 2 brown things to the left side of the top yellow ball. Put the pinky thing on top of the brown things. Move the pinky to the right until it is thrown into the goal.

Happens to me too if the chain is too long or if its placed wrong at start, try putting it in different positions. It doesn't usually work at first try.
