So I had this video posted on facebook. I thought to myself, "Hey, it's right there, why not watch it yet again even though you've seen the entire film an excess of seven thousand times?"
So, with that, I clicked it, full screened, only then to find out that my speakers were turned up all the way. And because the beginning is so... I don't know, blunt, the "ONE NIGHT" just kind of HAPPENED, and I nearly shat myself.
I'm rather grateful that it happened during the day.
I figured out the mystery on the tuning guys. I have a friend who is super music saavy, used to play in NYC and such as a session guy. I asked him and he said that sometimes when you take a tape reel and re-record it (read:put it on disc) it sometimes makes it a shade faster. Not faster as in changes the tempo so you can hear the change, but enough to change the pitch. That's my new best guess.
This is a prime example of why the music and musicians of today have nothing on these guys. In the middle of one song they just go off in a totally different direction, then bring it right back to where they started. It's like stream of consciousness. I've always been of the school of thought where music should be a conversation, in conversation, we rarely go from point A to point B, we mostly meander. Zeppelin was a master at that. When Justin Beiber or Rhianna does that, get back to me.
this in the key of f. i'm pretty sure they played in the key of e but it was changed to f for some reason and i would like to have it in e to play along with my guitar.

The video seems to have been sped up, causing the key to become F instead of E, which is a less convenient key to play in as far as guitar is concerned. x3Plashman wants to know where he can get the original recording in E to play along to, which is on "The Song Remains the Same" DVD. But I still have no idea what "right issues" are.

@x3Plashman some dvd versions (including mine) are a step higher than the standard recording. many dvds so this for some reason. not too sure where you could find it in e, other than the soundtrack cd.
you could capo it. I noticed the same thing and it pissed me off. I finally had to just listen then play instead of playing to it. After a while you'll get it to sound good. It's the fills that make the song on this one, stay loud and active and it will sound fine. Listen to when he hits the E chord (F since it's tuned up), here the fill?

@TasOMW this is more of a ambigation of many songs and riffs, I think theres some old Blues song called Boogie Mama as well, but it doesn't sound anything like this. Im not sure where the lyrics are from, but the guitar Jimmy is playing is DEFINATELY Elvis Presley licks, theres so much stuff from Elvis's guitarist Carl Perkins in here. CP was a big inspiration for page

@xxmusicheadxx I think I know what the question was. The video seems to have been sped up, causing the key to become F instead of E, which is a less convenient key to play in as far as guitar is concerned. x3Plashman wants to know where he can get the original recording in E to play along to, which is on "The Song Remains the Same" DVD. But I still have no idea what "right issues" are.

@xxmusicheadxx Right issues means like, this is a movie, it shouldnt be really on youtube people should be buying it, and by making the pitch higher it would avoid been taken out by copyrighting law by youtube

@x3Plashman some dvd versions (including mine) are a step higher than the standard recording. many dvds so this for some reason. not too sure where you could find it in e, other than the soundtrack cd.

you could capo it. I noticed the same thing and it pissed me off. I finally had to just listen then play instead of playing to it. After a while you'll get it to sound good. It's the fills that make the song on this one, stay loud and active and it will sound fine. Listen to when he hits the E chord (F since it's tuned up), here the fill?

@TasOMW this is more of a ambigation of many songs and riffs, I think theres some old Blues song called Boogie Mama as well, but it doesn't sound anything like this. Im not sure where the lyrics are from, but the guitar Jimmy is playing is DEFINATELY Elvis Presley licks, theres so much stuff from Elvis's guitarist Carl Perkins in here. CP was a big inspiration for page
