I love alot of Rameau's music. This piece however...

@PalmideArtaserse, no, I can't stand this piece. At all. However, I love Rameau's pieces de clavecin en concert. This piece, on the other hand, just stagnates. It's too much of the same thing. And it's overblown. It has a huge orchestra but not much substance.

This is one energetic performance. Just watching tenor Jeff Thompson is worth it all. So nice to hear sacred Rameau. THANK YOU.

How splendid to see the very obvious joy of the singers ! They do not simply sing, they make MUSIC here. I can only watch this with tears in my eyes, every time again I am utterly moved, both by the singing and by Rameau's incredible music. Thank God there are still people making true music.

Il est dommage que l'œuvre sacrée de Rameau durant la première partie de sa vie soit perdue, car les quelques pièces plus tardives sont d'un très haut niveau et ne rougissent pas devant Bach et Haendel.

Euh...

Rameau n'est pas un très bon compositeur de musique sacrée... In Convertendo est sa seule œuvre potable. Parmi ses contemporains en musique sacrée, mieux vaut Lalande, Campra, Desmarest et Mondonville (pour ce que l'on connaît). Quant à comparer ceux-ci à Bach ou Händel, ça n'a pas grand chose à voir stylistiquement parlant, une telle démarche me semble absconse.

Euh... C'est quand même un bel ouvrage rempli de couleurs. Et cette interprétation a le mérite de nous le montrer sous ses plus beaux atours... J'aime beaucoup ceux que tu cites mais laisse nous apprécier celle-ci, s'il te plait. Ceci dit, comparer est toujours hasardeux, c'est exact.

@sk8nruff Isn't he great? But you know what like about him the most? That he is enjoying the music. I really hate it when singers are glued to the floor and make it seem like the music is too serious to be enjoyed.
