I make beats too and if I could be like any producer I would want to be like Madlib in that regard. I would want to make some money but just enough to not have to worry about it and focus on music. Also, it seems he wants to expand his ability to make music by any means necessary, whether it be sampling some relatively obscure piece of music or actually learning to play the instruments.
