I have been watching this event for years at local rodeos. My 4 year old boy can't wait to do this. He's been eyeing our alpaca's and one of these days, I'll turn around and find him on the back of one of the alpacas and flying across their pasture. That will be another proud moment my son will give me. Child abuse, HAHA. Let's get our kids outside, and enjoy the fresh air.
I Oh good grief, people. Child abuse? Really? If you think this is child abuse then be glad that you have no idea what child abuse really is. These kids are wearing helmets, the sheep travel at low speeds, the arena sand provides a soft enough landing, and the kids WANT to do this. If the child is scared and crying the gate men take them OFF the sheep and don't let them do it. Kids are more more likely to get hurt riding their bicycles than doing this.
the sheep would not allow the kids to ride them for 2 seconds if they hated it! The kids are having soo much fun i wish i could ride a sheep. Im a horse back rider and those vests protect you soo much i fell with one on and it felt like gently sitting down on the couch
This is disgusting, how parents can be so ignorant and teach their children to abuse animals like this... so sad the world for the future generations...
I remember when I was a young kid....all I wanted to do was race BMX and my mother supported that ..I broke a rib....every week, there were kids with broken collar bones, ankles, etc. These wear tons of protection and are going in a linear motion...i.e. they aren't as subject to the horrors of gravity nor the proverbial stampede of 7 other riders (and their hard, metal bicycles!) ...My point is this:
Anyone who thinks this is child about should have had their ass beaten as a child :-)
straps on their testicles??? too much peta lies. there is a small herd of sheep at the other end of the arena and they run to the herd. so i guess growing up on a farm was cruelty too? but since you grew up in a city you seem to know whats best for everyone else.

This is animal cruelty—the rodeo puts a tight strap on the animal's testicles and that is why they are running in pain. Americans need to be informed about what the rodeo is really about. Children should not be encouraged to take part in animal cruelty. Watching animals buck in pain = animal cruelty. How about we tie a strap to the testicles of the MC?
@somedayfire straps on their testicles?? stop buying into peta propaganda. their is a small herd of sheep at the other end of the arena that the sheep are running towards. but what more could i expect from some city person who thinks rats are people too.
@somedayfire You obviously don't watch very closely. If you payed any attention at all, you would see that to the animals bulls and sheep alike, it is a sport. In the shoot, they are excited to get out and buck!
@svman2467 I understand that, I'm saying, lets do it to the people who say rodeo does it and see what the results are. You and I know what the results would be lol

@Revelation7912 YOU ARE MISSING THE WHOLE HOOF THING. SHEEP ARENT SMALL TO THE KID AND THE HOOFS GUNNA HIT THEM IN THE FACE AND CRACK THEIR SKULL!! YOU BITCH YOU DONT CARE ABOUT CHILDREN AT ALL SICK BITCH I HOPE YOU RIDE A BULL AND I HOPE IT CRUSHED YOUR FACE
This is great, I love these kids! And the PC nay-Sayers need to stop over thinking everything and learn to enjoy life. This isn't an abuse of ANY kind. But if you can't, then just go away and let the rest of us enjoy life without your whining.
I just don't know how some of you can say this is NOT animal abuse. And how do YOU know the sheep are happy? Sheep are passive creatures, grazing in fields, following the 'leader,' etc. This is a deplorable sport at the expense of an animal for the sake of entertainment. And it's not enough to JUST not watch it - that's what's wrong today - no one stands up for anything. We just tune it out. Sad. And more sad for these sheep.
you soud like one of those rodeo haters. if you dont like mutton bustin' then dont watch it. and yes, the sheep are 'owned'. actually. the ranch next door to mine has some mutton bustin' sheep...with actual owners. and the sheep are happy.
haha, no actually, the kids love it! i was at a rodeo just the other day and i was sitting next to these two little boys that do this, and all they could talk about was how much fun they had!
@flashpod That is quite correct. This is one of few parts of rodeo that is *not* animal abuse. What this constitute though is child abuse.
When adults engage in stupid behaviour, sometimes even endangering others, it is their choice. For kids though, it is their parents choice to put them in danger. This isn't about 12 year old kids, this is about 4 year old. Kids that don't even know right from wrong yet.
How this is "cute" or "funny"?Then again, kids with AK-47s could also be "cute" to some.

@somedayfire Lets tie a rope around your testicles and see if you perform. Or will you roll around on the ground crying for your mamma?
25mtcowboy 8 months ago
@25mtcowboy they don't put ropes around testicles, just shows how many people don't know the sport of rodeo the animals are treated with respect.
