@bzzymatt check out light o rama... great hardware/software configuration... there are tons of others, but LOR is about the simplest set up for a beginner
Some one is going to ask so I did it as a shopping list. detailed parts list: 2 ea 10' lenth 1 3/8" fence top rail 9 ea 1 3/8" fence to post holder 1 ea 1 3/8" fence top rail couplier 2 ea Pully's _____' 3/8" guide wire 6 ea U clamp sets 6 ea Tensioners 6 ea Stakes 1 ea Steel post holder for pipe 1 ea 6" Iron pipe threaded both ends 1 ea 6' fence holder (green pole) 32 ea Hooks 1 ea 4" to 2" PVC stepdown
I like this idea and intend to expand it a little for my use. For only a few more dollars I have cut the post into 5' lenths and used the coulplers just cut the bolts so it goes up with no problems makes storage better for me. One question how many hooks did you use? 32?
I am looking into a way to use two stepdowns to the top with 4 colors white, blue, red and green of lights thinking that a hook will hold 2 strands each and using 128 channels as this will allow complete rotation of each color.
Sorry but it is already up. I run cable not rope to two pulleys at the top. I use a boat crank to pull it up. Guy wires at center and top are a must. Had 65mph winds and it survived.
Good tree. I got to get some strobs next year. you are the first I have seen with them only on the pole. also I gotta ask if you could point me toward or the name and artist of that version of Amazing Grace. I can't seem to find it. I would bet you are on the diyc forum. If so you could PM the name and artist I need to look for. I use the same user name there. I want this song in my show next year. great job and thanks.
thats a really good idea i just us that green stake but it in the ground attach a 15 foot piece of pvc to the stake i then us a wood bun with screws in it to attach the lights and attach pipe to the bottom of it to put it in the pvc it works great and isn't to expensive holdman does basically the same thing i then just run the lights down to the ground and wrap them around the base it works great and looks great i put all the outlets in the middle of the tree .
I want to build a mega tree this year, but I want to program my lights to music. What do you use for your lights???

where did you buy your channels at or did you make yourself?
cowboyinstyle1984 2 years ago
How many channels are you running? Can you show the set up with all the parts (guide wires) and how it raises up?
ramjet67 2 years ago
There are 8 channels for Red, White and green. For a total of 24. I will be putting up the tree in about a week so will try to take more video
