  • PEOPLE KILLING PEOPLE DYING PEOPLE HURTING PEOPLE CRYING IF PRACTISE WAT YA PREACH THEN TURN THE OTHER CHEACK

    AMEN.

This is good advice take note!

  • creative, entertainging and educational. hey thanks !

  • along with these chords and progression D - G - C - A, most used ever too.

  • The Pachelbel's Canon chord series used to be very famous in the late 60s with the Pop Tops "Oh Lord Why lord" and the Aphrodite's Child of Demis Roussos with "Rain and Tears" which peaked at #1 in several European countries in Summer 1968.

  • i write my own tunes on the keyboard, and i do use 3 of the 4 chords in most of my songs. I know it isnt the most original, but it works

  • That Alicia Keys picture near the beginning needs to be shopped...

  • I just let out a massive LOL. This is awesome *two thumbs up*

  • Just goes to show you how....... Imaginative.... Pop music is.

    UNDERGROUND / METAL FTW!!!!!

  • @Chewbacca4387 : it's the same deal with most of the so-called underground or metal stuff... it's hard to be creative since guys like Bach, Haendel, Mozart and so forth existed centuries ago.

  • @Chewbacca4387 lol, a lot of this wasn't pop though

  • i think its awesome how they there are different versions of this song, using some different songs. lol. love it!

  • The chords are F, C, Dminor and Bb aren't they? They are the chords for Where is the Love and No One anyway...

  • @HicksonAndOgden7 well its actualy just the Root - 5th - 6th - 4th but yeah thats right

  • i think this is so clever! and true - aminor c g and f are used in just about every pop song!

  • My music teacher showed us this in class :)

    IT WAS AWSOME

  • If I can remember correctly they're A-, F, C, G

  • How come most of these turn out to be my favorite songs? o.O

  • @0AcesHigh0, because your taste in music is like everyone elses.

  • 3:06 that ass (;

  • Self Esteem does not sound like that o.O

  • Anyone know the chords?

  • just me who tried this with Friday and found it kinda worked?

  • 0:28 dat ass

  • im singing this infront of 400 people cos its awesome

  • 2:09 -3

  • There are 8 chords, the first 4rth change at 3:20

  • Comment removed

  • Most songs these days are all about the actual "instrument" sounds not the melody/chord progression.

  • ...and there are only 12 notes in the chromatic scale....

  • isn't it rich and creative to make so many songs with 4 chords ? You can do that with most of the pop songs....that's why they are popular aren't they ?

  • 2:39 What is that guy on the far left doing?!?!?!?

  • 2:03 <3

  • Amazinggg!

  • whats with the echo?

  • ..also Sarah McLachlan's Building A Mystery, Joan Osborne's What If God Was One of Us, BARF!!!

  • Oh, this is not a joke!!!! The underlying chord progressions are exactly the same in all these songs. It's nauseating! Others: Rolling Stones' Beast of Burden, No Doubt's Spiderweb, LeAnn Rimes' How Do I Live Without You, Better Than Ezra's It was Good, Weezer's Say It Isn't So, Bruce Springsteen's I'm Going Down, Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much; Johnny River's Slow Dancing. Then there's the other one: VIm-IV-I-V. Examples: Heart's What About Love AND Alone; Roxette's Listen 2 th Heart

  • this is fun and cool and all, but I hope most people know that its mostly just a joke and it isnt really true. if you just sing the song the right way and in the right tempo, you can make any song sound like this, no matter if they use those 4 chords or not

  • Omg I can play all these songs

  • I know this is a joke band, but saying that Journey song is a "great song" is going a little far.

  • this is great

  • nice song for 3 years!

  • @gsofficial im not sure so don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure they are talking about how all of these songs use the first fifth sixth and forth note in a scale. I don't really know much about music theory because I just started last week. This might be a relative major??? Idk

  • this song is different on every video i click on

  • @kingryan3000 It was a joke, dumbass. But of course, you're to stupid to understand things.

  • Best song ever

  • Well, people, do you see ? Music is so easy =)

  • so many bands wanna be famous, so few that have anything relevant to say

  • Wondering how many versions r there ? Saw a live which composites different songs

  • So you play these 4 chords in 'Birdplane', and you're a star!... Or wait, no...

  • You can sing almost any decent melody over any decent chord progression in the same key, this is completely bogus.

  • no woman so cry!did you forgot?

  • thats wrong, they dont all use those chords

  • On guitar with capo (easier)

    4th Capo:

    C - G - Am- F

  • Roses are red

    Violets are pencil

    This poem makes no sense

    Toaster

  • "Africa" by toto is my morning song! Me n my old band mate had this idea a while back but we were beat to it! Something else to blow ur mind...beloved score writer John Williams stole/steals subjects from famous composers and develops them differently, but obviously...

  • Lol its Bo Burnham.

  • @XPapaEricX no, its not.

  • mind = BLOWN!

  • Alicia has a nice arse

  • the 297 dislikes must be from the artists which actually found their profit on those 4 chords :D

  • Tonic, Major Fifth, Minor Sixth, Major Fourth, repeat.

  • faszinierend wie viele lieder man auf drei akkorde spielen kann

  • @Svenjarocks Ja...fast...drum heißt das lied auch 4 chords....weil man sie mit 3 akkorden spielt oO sry fürs klugscheißen übrigens xD

  • The chords are c g am f we done this in school

  • For anybody wanting to know the chord progression it is : I - V - VI - IV

Or the chords C - G - Am - F (if in C major) Use this and change to any key you want with this =p

Axis play it in E major however.

  • mind = blown.

  • Great video, thanks!

  • 4 million of these views come from my best friend alone... he sings this every fucking morning when he picks me up to go to school!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Missy Higgins would get a damn good seeing to

  • Well it's the same Chord progression but completely different keys, Under the Bridge shown here is E B A

  • i hate to be a wet blanket but why is someone always off tune??? nice mix just the off tune part that annoys me

  • the notes dont matter, all songs are play in different tone.

  • I. Love. This.

  • love it

  • wow. so being famous isn't really as hard as everyone makes it out to be!

  • 4:31 I LOLD SOOOO HARD

  • well, at least "man in the mirror" and "can you feel the love tonight" have interesting intro, unlike the rest that repeating the same progression throughout the ENTIRE SONG!!!

  • another popular progression as in Canon in D. using C major:

    C - G - Am - Em - F - C - F - G

  • Wonderful.

  • at least change the key, geez...

  • @Bayview05 That would sound really bad... Lol..

  • @Bayview05 ... that would defeat the point of the video...

  • their voices sound strange!

  • "Cigarettes Will Kill You"? What kinda f***ed up song?

  • What's your question?

  • @clownpants What kinda name for a song is that?

  • The live version is better... Still awesome though.

  • Couldn't leave it at 18,099.

  • So basically we've been subjected to the exact same chords are entire lives. How limiting and uninspiring. I fail to see the "awesome" in the this.

  • @prominentdude haha you actually took time to comment on something you dont like

  • @prominentdude totally agree with you, even the repetitive pattern is circulating in the pop industry until today

  • @prominentdude The band is called Axis of Awesome, and it is a clever thing, putting the different songs together, no one else has done it before.

  • me gusta! es muy adictivo

  • They use different keys, probably depending on which songs they're including and the range of the vocal parts.

    THIS recording seems to be in E (E, B, C#m, A)

In the "2011official video" one it seems to be in D (D, A, Bm, G)

  • too many australian songs i don't know argh

  • Music class brought me here..

memorised it all, cracks us all up:)

  • My music theory class sent me here. Cracks me up!

  • Amazing!

  • E – B – C# – A

  • 0:27 is when i paused

  • OMFG! I FOUND IT!

My friends were singing this today, and I loved it. Now I love it even more! Just now to remember it all:D

  • abigworld's got it

  • E | B | C#m | A .... u dumbass...

  • The concept of this song is pretty much the same as Rob Paravonian's "Pachelbel Rant."

    Still brilliant, though.

  • Pretty sure its E - B - C#m - A...

  • @abigword You can play that too, but axis of awesome uses C-G-Am-F :)

  • @Haemat0pus It doesn't seem like they did in this recording. Are you checking it to an instrument?

I know it's kinda lame to argue the key, but on the off chance that some kid who doesn't understand transposition wants to play along with this recording, I'd like it to be accurate.

  • B - F# - G# - E Actually >.>

  • Blink 182 -33

  • @rydercooper press 6 as well as 9 (not at the same time) it looks even more epic!

  • @rydercooper Nice, guy!

  • @rydercooper dude, you just made my day HAHA

  • @rydercooper

    Damn you. Shat my pants.

  • There's another thing all these songs have in common... they SUCK.

  • @trubblemuffin Normally I would be angry, but I can't take you seriously with a name such as "trubblemuffin". Please leave, the world would be better off without you. Go back to crying.

  • @javmol3 is this how you react when you're not angry? Deep down you know I'm right, and you're angry because you LOVE a whole bunch of these douchey songs. ;) But that's ok. Differences are are what makes the world go round. Me and my silly screenname will go to crying while you my friend enjoy the cream of some of the sappiest songs on the planet... xx

  • LOL!!! Check out my TUT for FL Studio!!! - Get Fame! Get Rich!

  • ah yes but it's how you use 'em...

  • Yes, the song used to fire up Australia's rugby team has the same chords as a Richard Marx song.

  • G - D - E - C

  • 0:26. I had to pause for 3 minutes......okay, resuming video...

  • Same with me at 3:01.

  • @burteriksson I just had to look. lol

  • not enough autotune

  • Geniale

  • I like this version better than the newest one :3

  • Hahah

    Really?!

  • @HyperionSc2 the chord progression is the same for all of these songs, they are not played in the same key, the chord progression is I V vi IV or tonic(major 1), dominate (major 5), sub-mediant (minor 6), Sub-dominate (major 4)

most humans can't automatically hear the difference in a key of the same tonality that is why songs can be played in many keys and they still sound the same.

they have taken all of these songs and put them in the same key making it possible to have smooth transitions

  • lol nice B5 on Take on Me

  • 3:18 música ligera.

  • Isn't this the first 4 chords in Pachelbel's Canon repeated?

  • C - G - Am - F

  • @towndrunk13569 I fucking hate F with a passion

  • @towndrunk13569 The real version that they use is Emajor, Bmajor, Csharp minor, and Amajor. Just sayin

  • @Flexerblex it could actually be several proggressions, depending on the key.

  • @Flexerblex You're right. But if you shifted the key (as with guitar, you could pout a capo on any particular fret), it would be those same chord shapes for C - G - Am - F. It's the same progression C - G - Am - F but shifted all over the neck of the guitar/piano

  • @towndrunk13569 E - B - C#M - A

  • @MusicalHippyDan the only other chord progression used more has got to be the 12 bar blues

  • @towndrunk13569 E, B C#m, A - I have made songs like this TONS of times...ANYWAY You WANT It by Journey has this pattern.

  • @towndrunk13569 Nah man this song is all in key of E - E B C#m A. But yeah, same chord progression.

  • @towndrunk13569 those are the wrong chords!

  • O this is transposed, E-B-C# and A. oR

  • The four chords: C, F, G and Aminor (i think)

  • was that superman by 5 4 fighting?

  • isnt apologise by timbaland not 1 republic?

in any case, i love it!!

    its just... AWESOME!!

  • @princessfiona94 Timbaland does a remix with One Republic on this song, yes. It's origin, however, belongs to One Republic. It's what pushed them into a label.

  • @EricHughes124 ah kk didnt no that... thanks :)

  • dude... this is epic. i really like this band

  • so amazing :) a friend showed me this ones and i couldn't stop smiling as i found it @ the internet after this time <3

  • if someone could put the singing voices of the original people i think this would be rediculously sick

    maybe i crazy? o.O

  • What're the 4 chords?

  • @WingsMarioDS

Everything before Save Tonight is E-B-C#m-A

Chord progression then ironically changes :D

  • @WingsMarioDS

    And after Save Tonight it's C#m - A - E - B

  • @Artudorockz It's the same progression.........

  • @kayzie96

Play it any way you want it, this is just what they play... i dont care

  • im a fuckin birdplane!

  • love it

  • MIKA <333

  • @Cernoise It's about harmonies... the different chords have to be I V vi IV of any key

  • I prefer the 2011 version personally.

  • These songs mostly have different tunes. What's the problem?

  • @Cernoise Who said there was a problem?

  • @InterestedFreak A lot of the commenters seem to be implying that this means the bands are all unoriginal or all sound the same or something. One even said 'this makes me weep for humanity'. I don't really understand why people would say that when the songs all sound different and there aren't so many chords to choose from, but enough people were saying it that it made me think maybe that kind of idea was the point of the medley. It's nice to know you think it isn't. :)

  • @Cernoise a ford chord song is very simple to do.

Of course that the pop bands are unoriginal, but this don't means that they're bad bands

  • good wrk........ lik it

  • this makes me weep for humanity...

  • HOWLY SHIT I FOUND THE SOURCE OF BECOMING FAMOUS

  • @AndreasThijs Its no longer just the Pick of Destiny!

  • I'll tell you why every damn musician of the last 500 years used these chords: they're frickin' beautiful!

  • @docterphreak and what the Axis of Awesome doesn't realise is that half of those songs in fact use Dominant Seventh chords, and in theory do not fit into those same four chords.

  • Thumbs up if you can't see the Dislike Bar
