I play assassin and I use a different method, especially when such terrain isn't available. I burst the protector until his health is at 3/4 or my health is low, and I fall back out of his range and recover. Then, I burst again and again and again until the artifact is mine :D

It's much faster and I can get it done in a few minutes, but it's also much riskier. Use whatever method you like best.

This is legit. Even when capturing this artifact as a group, you should use the terrain (i.e. that slope) to avoid the mass fear he does.

if you mean not using 3rd party programs then yes. But he is exploiting the line of sight from casters, especially long ranged ones (this boss for instance). so when he's not in line of sight, mobs just tend to de-aggro, however balaurs take a while to de-aggro. so yea, i think he's exploiting.
