Sounds kinda thin and jangly, no bottom end what so ever. The acoustic string rattle from your guitar is almost as loud as the distorted guitar sound, sounds like you should've turned your amp up. Or maybe your recording gear needs an upgrade? An audio interface and something like a used sm57 wouldn't cost you a lot more then that little pedal, it'd be a huge step up from recording with your camera mic...
@wetcrevice I'm using a Fender Am Dlx Stratosonic (p-90s, chambered mahogany body, maple bolt-on, 24.75 scale)...I think I did this one into a clean 3/5 watt Blackheart tube amp.
Wow.... i'm currently looking for a fuzz pedal and this thing is just crazy. I'll probably buy it after i sell my sovtek big muff :-) thanks for the demo!
Get the muf modded, or just start hacking yourself. There's countless schematics and tutorials on the net that coud save you the money for this pedal. Nothing against this pedal though, it's got a really cool sticker on it.
Damn, I've having a hard time choosing. I'm thinking I'll probably get a couple of these bi-control Devi fuzzes, but I can't tell which one is best suited for what I'm looking for. I would use it mostly for drone/sludge/stoner/doom metal and the like, so it needs to be up to standards in the areas of "heavy", "deep", "sustained" and "heavy".
Aenima is definately one at the top of that list. The NeverDrive is another one to look at. Destructo Noctavia is certainly heavy but you may wanna make sure it's what you want.
@JeremyMoar lol Already bought it! The comment you responded to is pretty old and I guess I just made a blind decision in buying the Ruiner. Boy was it a good one though...
lol. I love overtones. This seems to be the kind of pedal that is so heavy that it knocks people off their feet and results in 1 to 3 word responses. I had to pause it to be able to type this much.
Actually though, this is one of the best heavy pedals I've heard, I prefer the tone of it over most of the modern metal ones, perhaps because this one is fuzz, where as the others are distortion. Scream is a good description, it keeps tone in places where other pedals would spit out pure static.

change the left knob (volume?) in conjunction with the right...tones of different tones are hidden in there

Wow. Heavy Heavy Heavy.

Haha. Yes.
If you want one word for this pedal, it's heavy. Two words? "Heavy" and "Overtones"!
