@tarrker Though Spartans would not surrender. In Sparta if you came back from a war which you lost you were a traitor and sentenced to death. Also Leonidas was one of the earlier ones to die in the battle not the last. They had killed Leonidas and then the Persians asked the remaining Spartans to give them Leonidas and their lives would be spared. The Spartans refused and got shot down by archers.

The Thebians are mentioned (remember the men Leonidis pointed out as not even being warriors) but are sent to retreat when Leonidis learned of Ephialtes' treachury. The Athenian Navy didn't come in until the Battle of Salamis which took place after the battle of Thermopylae. But I do agree that there are numerous facts in this movie that are wrong, it was just a movie, and made for entertainment purpose more than educational =)
