As Densmore relates in Riders....Jim was late in on flight from New Orleans for this show...apparently he'd gotten into a fight with Pam and missed his flight. Band is nervous as hell that he's not there yet...Jim finally shows drunk as a skunk. As it turns out Jim was purposely doing this sort of confrontation theater, which he had experienced with the band at some play the attended in the past where the actors would taunt the audience. Jim apparently was completely sober after the show.

Sadly this is where all the recordings of this concert begin. The attempt (which is apparently all it was) to play 'Break on Through' before this wasn't recorded. Nor was Jim's famous penis incident, which happened right before "Light my Fire" in the bootleg, but was not recorded, you can hear the tape cut.

Perhaps the guy who made the tape cut it because Morrison was arrested and put on trial after this show, which ultimately led to his leaving the country while on appeal, and dying.
