@TonyandLeah The meeting did go well. We had many of the assistance to The Senator gasping at how bad things are as we spoke to the Senator himself. We've been asked to keep in touch with this senators transportation adviser. There need to be a group like mine (ours) in every major city, talking to congress-people (there are ladies on capital hill). Any pilot can start a group. DO IT! :)
@atprn I really don't think, even at the 10 year point the benefits outweigh the sacrifices. And actually it's not a "union thing". Unfortunately of all the evils against us, the unions are the least of them.
Sully's words ought to have been a deafening wake-up call to the world about just how we pilots are abused and because of this abuse is directly related to the safety of every flight out there. But as all great speeches they land (no pun intended) on the deaf ear's of the masses. To all my fellow aviators, God bless you! Stay on the straight and narrow flight and continue to soldier on.
@captainmorgan757 Please post this either on your FB page or send it out in a mass emial. I appreciate your intensity. I am meeting with two US senators over the course of the next month and bringing about 8-10 other pilots with me to each meeting, depending on availability.
@CessnaPilot1B9 And when that scheister, Cohon, tries, you can tell he's lying. He shows the classic facial expression that even Clinton had when he lied; raised eye-brows close to his nose and a wrinkled forehead. Remember Clinton saying, "I did not have sexual relations with that women." and then he did the same? Now a classic example of the face of a lie. In fact, today it is studied as such.
The narrative was good, but the music was overly-melodramatic and too loud. Similarly, the scrolling text was pretty lame ("rise up"???).
The solution is for new aviation professionals to stop agreeing to work for next to nothing (or in some cases, literally nothing). I could put an ad in CL seeking a pilot with 1,000 TT and offering $7.25/hour, and I'd have people willing to relocate to take it.
I'm not blaming pilots, but if you demand professional treatment, you'll receive it.
You think getting paid more would have prevented that crash? tomokc is right. You don't have to go work for the worst paying regionals if you don't want to. You go in and sign on the dotted line then you agree to that contract. Pilot's fault. There are plenty of airlines that pay decent enough through the first 3 years so long as you were smart and didn't get suckered by the big brand name flight schools. If you finish training with 100k in debt AND no degree then that's pretty stupid.
@averettpilot You said, "There are plenty of airlines that pay decent enough through the first 3 years." Okay, list them. What's more, pro-corporate congress and executive branch lobbying have made keeping a "fair" contract impossible. If management doesn't like it, they'll simply wait for a strong enough market-down-turn to liquidate that contract through chpt.11. It's been well documented that had the FO made enough money she could have slept in a hotel at base, not commuted in.
@TheWashingtonEagle HERE! HERE! Well rebuked! You kept it logical, factual, and all by not using profanity! You have a much more acurate understanding of just how the situation is in aviation. I applaud you! Bravo!
i like how you showed a b-52 crash

@tomokc I'm sure that for those people who died in the crash of Colgan flight 3407 and their families the music is not dramatic enough.
