The reason we try to disprove eternity, is because our minds our limited by our bodies so that we cannot try to fathom eternity without eventually panicing or going mad
Most of you guys believe absolute bullshit. The body is a time oriented container that reflects the spirit inside it. Thought and problem solving are two different things. Thoughts are personal ideas either inspirationally created or borrowed from another sourc originating from the heart (sentience). Thinking is rational and unrational reasoning or deduction supported by the matrix of the brain. In truth, life we know it, is like being in an artificial environment with creative laws and physics
Thoughts, emotions, feelings, etc. are caused by electricity flowing through your body via your life force i.e. your heart! Your heart is essentially a battery powering your thoughts, emotions, feelings, etc. Your so-called "spirit" is a mixture of emotions/feelings which I dub as the "white emotion"! Your heavenly realm is nothing more than a mere thought controlled by science i.e. electricity.
A smashed cd will still contain the information stored on it, except the medium is mutilated to the extent that reading it will be difficult. A burned cd will be reduced from a readable orderly state to a chaotic state, the data exists, but is no longer readable, because it is mixed with random variables.
as to "where does the spirit go after death?"
first answer: where does the flame go after it burns out?
I'm an agnostic atheist anti-theist, if the biblical god were proven I would not worship it. I guess that there are men and women who believe in god due to fear of a hell but to me there is not sufficient evidence to take any biblical claims literally, if it's metaphorical, so is the god. Bodies decompose, our thoughts are known to originate in the brain, there is evidence to suggest our thoughts cease with death. I see no evidence for life after death, I'm not claiming knowledge.
Scientist say that you cannot add the energy or take out energy from the universe. So where does that energy go after we die. If it goes nowhere as the the time and space is perception then our birth and death becomes perception too.It becomes illusion. And if it can go to hell or heaven then it can certainly come back to earth. Those who say that you get reincarnated as animal has absoultly no idea how it works
If human brain has all the life experience then where that energy go from brain
Wow I am an atheist as in not believing in Gods, yet I agree with all of this. The CD analogy is a little flimsy, since the same code is to stored on another peice of hardware somewhere, but the writing of the code to the disc is a viable comparison to our brain, as the cd. For this to be accurate does not require a creator deity, or at least not one requiring piety.
Great. So now we can rely on Socrates for scientific purposes. Honestly, if the reasoning in this clip is 'evidence', then we are a far cry from the truth on the matter. Ok, so now I have discovered that my broken CDs are still ok because their information doesn't die. They go to CD heaven. Their 'bodies' are broken, but their 'spirit' lives on.
@RationalTheism He did not claim that 80% of the Western World believed in or supported the ideas presented in this video. He made the broad statement that 80% of people in the Western World accept some form of metaphysical existence after death.

What people delude themselves into believing is 100% irrelevant.
The fact of the matter is, there is absolutely no evidence for an afterlife. NONE. ZIP. NADA. You are nothing more than a whackjob if you think your mind is magically transported to an "etherial" realm after you die.
Oh wait, you're a theist...so that's pretty much par for the course.

400 years of the Mark of the Beast. THE BIBLE IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST.
It keeps us under the curse of the law and it breaks the new covenant of God writing His laws in our hearts by His Spirit.

@FallofDarkness55 when/how does a Protozoa with no emotion evolve into something that loves its offspring?

I always think that it's amusing that atheists demand material evidence of the supernatural, especially when they are in the minority.
It's as if a person with their eyes squeezed shut demanded that you put their hand on light so that they could experience it for themselves.
