The main thing is to find a vocal coach that knows the voice, many are just piano players and they can wreck your voice. THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. Learning how to sing well, quickly does not happen unless you work at it. There is no magic wand here. My coach Dr. Joel Ewing says it takes about 7 years to get where you should be. So don't give up, as you work at it and go over and over the exercises, you will feel your voice getting better and better, IF YOU ARE IN LA SEE HIM, HE'S THE BEST

Keeping in tune well requires a lot of practice. Some people have a natural ear for knowing where tonic is, or in solfege, Do. If you can centralize where the root is, you'll be able to base everything off of that pitch. Try to keep consistent air flow when singing a single note to keep the pitch from waving. If your problem keeping the pitch through as song, do this. Hit a key on the piano, sing it, walk away and do something else for five minutes, then come back and see if you remeber it.

Well, here's the thing. If you PRACTICE your vocal technique between lessons and remain in contact with your teacher throughout the week whether it be by e-mail or the phone you can achieve the same progress without spending money on daily lessons. Let's figure a 30 minute lesson is $20. That's $140 dollars a week if you do it daily. If you've got that money; go ahead. I know I don't.
