On a more serious note, as horrible as unexploded cluster bomblets are, they're something that, like landmines, will never fully go away. They need to put a ban on these that is both global and temporary. Temporary at least until technology allows the use of cluster bombs that do not leave unexploded ordinance on the battlefield. Already, we have munitions that are biodegradable and have very small chances of failure. If this technology were improved to significantly reduce the chance of a bomblet remaining unexploded on the battlefield, I see no reason to ban these.

Old-school city carpet-bombing works too, hardly something one would do these days though. There is no problem with bomb lets that explodes and destroying targets. There is however a problem with a relative high percentage of bomb lets that do not explode and remain highly dangerous after the war. If there is a possibility to reduce post-war civilian casualties and/or collateral damage in general, one should try to act as responsible as the given circumstances allows it.

They need to put a ban on these that is both global and temporary. Temporary at least until technology allows the use of cluster bombs that do not leave unexploded ordinance on the battlefield. Already, we have munitions that are biodegradable and have very small chances of failure. If this technology were improved to significantly reduce the chance of a bomblet remaining unexploded on the battlefield, I see no reason to ban these.

There is however a problem with a relative high percentage of bomb lets that do not explode and remain highly dangerous after the war. If there is a possibility to reduce post-war civilian casualties and/or collateral damage in general, one should try to act as responsible as the given circumstances allows it.

since when is war supposed to be nice? the quicker people learn how brutal it is the quicker it ends. I thought the idea was to kill as many of the enemy as possible. mess with the bull you get the horn, mess with us get cluster bombs up your ass!!! bring back flame throwers, and keep building land mines by the millions!!!! you are either with us or against us.
