I worked in Palisades Amusement Park as a ride operator of the Monster...Loop-D-Loop-...Round­up and a couple of others. We were right next to the Trabant and rode it a bunch of times. The ride is capable of producing speeds like that but it is unusual for the long duration. You also don't run the entire cycle with everything engaged. Also..older rides have a history of stress and need to checked more often. Before riding any ride be sure the company hasn't had a continuous problem with safety.

I went 2 Mexico on December and at the fair Theres was a trabant, when u look at it, it really looks like is going out of control, I got on it 2times, and it didn't went CRAZY like this one!!!! But it's the most FUN ride at the fair :)

That's the whole purpose of the ride to get out feeling drunk...

The perfect mixture of movements no one too fast but combined it's really playing with gravity in nice flowing movements.

Wish i could find these rides in west Europe - takes me back to my childhood!

Personally, I feel that this ride should be modified to handle this type of intensity. Some of those guys looked like they were having fun. I also feel that these damn things would be a hell of a lot more fun! And for those that have been leaving comments in the ball park of: This ride should not be put under that kind of stress or shouldn't be operated as such, did any one of you ask if that were the question why can it put out so much? If it SHOULDN'T why can it?! --and obviously it handled it

I know I have a cousin that operates rides. he even saw this he said "OMG" rides like this should not be any longer then 2 to 3 minutes long. and yall lucky non of the screws got loose coz the ride could of spinned right off the crane.

Esto ya no es correcto! Fue demasiado largo, se ve que era una tortura para los paseantes.

El operdor hizo demasiados cambios bruscos a mi parecer, ya que he visto como los operan y se que son dos etapas, la primera hacia adelante,arriba y abajo en una velocidad moderada, luego un periodo corto en alta velocidad, la segunda (despues del vaiven) hacia atras, de nuevo se repite los movimientos anteriores y ahi un tiempo corto se tiene que terminar.

The Trabant is one of my favorite rides and it's too bad that you don't see them that much. As for what's going on in the video, I see nothing wrong with how the ride operator is operating this ride. Maybe the ride program he's doing is a little long, but then again I believe the ride is manually controlled. The only wrong way to operate this ride, and Chance makes it very clear, is that you don't operate it with the turret and the wheel going in the same direction.
