Thank you for the music and the excellent descriptions of the tour. I had the album and saw footage (via my older brother!) when I was 10 and already a Jarre fan. It's brilliant that you've put this on. Many many thanks from lots of people I would imagine! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I remember buying this tape 20 years ago. I loved the record but not the video because I was too young at 14 to take in the imagery, ambience and historical value of this film. I remember thinking "Get on with the show already." Having traveled to Beijing since during different phases of developlement I can not help but replay this fantastic film and truly enjoy it the way Jarre intended.
It is amazing how china has changed since 1981. I have been there last year and now you can not tell the difference from other big modern cities in the world. This video is an historical piece of the very first attempts to introduce occidental culture into the Maos China. Jarre was very advanced for his time in terms of exposing electronic music in a series of live concerts.
There was a DVD released by accident, and was available for a few days, I believe in Austia, but am not sure, I've found a torrent to download the DVD, contact me if you're interested.
I got 2 videos but not selling them, sory, send me a message if you're interested I keep my eyes open for you for a copy. I met Jarre in Paris and Belgium, very nice man, he also signed one of my keyboards.
Grandiose!!! et en plus ça détend....

Hey wait a minute... the images in the video are pre '80s LOL :) In the '80s China was wa more advanced.
MaxSynths 2 years ago
Technically, 1981 which is when these images were filmed count as being part of the 80s.

No... some images are not from the '80s, it's pretty clear LOL :)

Agreed. They started running civilians over with tanks in 1989. Awful country.

Can someone please tell me where I can get this video/DVD?
GandalfTheGrey1969 2 years ago 2
Try the shop around the corner (simply request it, they should be able to order a copy for you scanning the ISBN database, usually).
