The Registration ID of this Aircraft AP-BFU is clearly visible @ 2:17. The same ID is also written on the front section and the Nosegear cover partly.

I have worked with several Airlines and know about the registration ID. The letters F and U on the nosegear are part of the registration ID of this airplane, nothing else. PIA is a professional airlines, please do not make fun of it, specially if you are a Pakistani yourself.

You can also see the registration ID on the tail section, the complete Registration ID of this aircraft is AP-BFU.

Thanks for uploading such graceful and well videographed shots of the PIA - Pakistan's favorite airlines. I think Airblue is the other Pakistani Airlines that now has UK as its international Destination. Shaheen Air is also another Pakistani Airlines, but that does not have UK routes yet.

The FU that you see, is only a part of the full registration ID - or the tail number of this airplane. The full Aircraft Registration id is AP-BFU, as you can also see on the tail written very small. We can not see the AP-B part since its on the belly of the aircraft, only FU get lifted which is on the Nosegear cover flap. Registraion is like car License Plate number.

I was only being sarcastic when I said, that FU means F*** You to those who do not like PIA. :)

it is quite common for Classic 747 to do that with slats, the timings change etc through maintenaince and testing, still perfectly safe

It wasn't much at all actually. I've filmed the PIA 747 coming much close than that before, this flight took off with only about 150 passengers as opposed to the 430 odd it can carry. I think they only flew the 747 on this one-off upgrade because they wanted to make it look worthwhile doing all that work to allow it to fly to the EU or something like that.

PIA have, but their Boeing 747s and Airbus A310s were banned from the EU in late 2006 due to poor maintenance. Whilst they were approved in 2008, it has taken until now for a 747 to return to Europe due to low loads. Regards, Tom Hughes

It probably is a GE since the Rolls Royce commonly makes the "whine" engine noise.

PIA have 747-200 and 747-300 equipped with Rolls Royce RB211, which are the same engines on the Lockheed L-1011. My grandpa worked on the Palmdale assembly plant building these aircraft. The RB211 has a barrel shape with a smaller cone in the back.
