If the elite doesn't appear. First make sure you are on heroic or legendary. I'm sure you did however you never know. But sometimes for no reason he doesn't appear what you need to do is quit the level and reload the mission at rally point alpha and he should be there. If not repeat the process. It happened once for me too.

10x easier if you kill the other elites first

@LawLaGe11711 Yes and No, Sometimes whilst fighting the other elites the golden one disappears, He can also disappear in the middle of combat after you take out his shields if you don't finish him quickly enough. For Further information of this i'll put a link in the description of the article i mentioned.
